Best EDC knive I've owned.
What a great knife! Excellent blade steel - holds an edge well. Very light weight - even when i carry in my dress pants, i can hardly feel it. Very easy to open and close one-handed. Great utility - i can use it for slicing apples and food prep, cutting cardboard, stripping wire, etc. Pretty thin and - did i say, really light weight? The opening/closing was a bit "gritty" when i first got it as some of the other reviews said. However, within a week it was smooth as glass. The opening finger tab works great and the closing is smooth and postiive. The "XR Lock" is just perfect and works righty or lefty. I don't write many reviews, but this knife really hits the sweet spot. I paid about $112 for it. Not the cheapest but for me, the best value by a huge margin. I'm not an expert so maybe there are other knives out there as good for the money. But if i loose this one, i'll go buy another just like it!

A Comfortable and Light All Around Knife
This knife has been one of my favorite EDC's since I bought it. I'm fond of 3 inch blades with a big belly, and the S35VN steel used in this knife holds a wicked edge very well. The carbon fiber handle is light, nicely textured, and remains comfortable with extended tasks like cutting up a pile of cardboard. It feels very solid, and the coated blade protects against corrosion around water. Pull the lock back and you can open or close the knife with a flick of your wrist.

Very good, hoping it lasts!
This is not my favorite knife, but seems quite good so far. Pros: - Super light weight thanks to the CF handle and liners - Nice size, comfortable grip - Super deep carry clip looks very durable Cons: - It's not as smooth as my Benchmade or Hogue but maybe it will wear in. - Clip is a bit too tight and the grooves in the CF seem a bit abbrasive to my pants. Hopefully this will also wear in without destroying my pockets. - I'm skeptical about the TiNi coating durability. - Made in China - I didn't know SOG hade gone this route.. Comparing to USA-made knives in the $200+ price range it may be pretty good, time will tell. Comparing to other China-made knives for <$100 it should fare very well.

I really want to love it!
I really want to love it! I originally purchased this knife for my new edc hub pouch. I was specifically looking for a light weight folder that fits in the slot and the only other knife that fits is the Benchmade bugout. Nonetheless, this Sog Terminus XR LTE is indeed a fantastic knife, the good: 1. It's extremely light at 2.3 ounces on my scale. The ergonomics are very comfortable for me, I have small to medium size hands and I love the feel of the knife. IMHO this can be considered as a gentleman's knife, you can definitely have this tucked in your blazer pocket or inside your jeans pocket, the deep carry clip keeps the knife tucked away nicely. You can't beat the cost of this knife, Sog is using top notch quality materials from the Cryo treated CPM S35VN steel blade that comes in at 2.99 which is extremely sharp on my knife, to the carbon fiber handles. The XR lock works very well on mine not to stiff at all, unlike others I've read about. Here it is, the bad: The reason I deducted one star is because the flipper tab shouldn't be so stiff or stuck to the point that you chip or crack your nail on it, at this point the knife becomes unpleasant to use. I enjoy a flipper tab but this knife doesn't have a snap when using the flipper. It's hard not wanting to use it when your knife has it right? The thumb nail stud works, but it's a little awkward, because you have to push, in the up-position not out-position and this method works best if you flick open the knife at the same time, be mindful to keep your thumb away from the blade when opening it using this method. In addition, If your using the thumb stud make certain the rest of your fingers are away from the XR lock otherwise your going to make the task of opening your knife a nightmare. The pivot is significantly stiff, so despite using the thumb stud or the flipper tab it's not as enjoyable to use as other knives. I'm at a cross between keeping it or returning it; the knife isn't as enjoyable to use as others but it does fit nicely in my hub pouch and it compliments my other items well. It will see use but not like others, this is a "if i need a knife, this is it" but its not my primary blade. I'm giving it the benefit of doubt. Which brings me to the last negative point. Sog if your reading this, consider using a T8 or better yet a T10 so that I and other Sog anthusias can take adjust and clean our knives properly. It's really not to much to ask. If this knife didn't have these other misc issues, this would be a bugout killer! I purchased this knife with my own money and my review is based on my experience with this knife. Hope it helps!

T6 screws, pivot ROTATES.
First off, the knife is good but SOG really screwed up a few things. 3 stars cause i do like the knife... after i fixed it. During the process of fixing it i was ready to toss it in the bottom of the drawer and never touch it again. *EVERY* screw on the knife is a T6, including the rotating pivot screw. While most quality knives do T8 or T10 for the pivot screw, SOG decided to go with the super easy to strip T6. (I stripped 1 T6 bit, almost stripped a 2nd one but luckily the screw heads are fine) There are 3 sets of screws holding the knife together, 6 in total. each set is screwed into a barrel, So each "set" is 3 pieces. The barrels have an indent, which the purpose of that indent is to STOP the barrel from ROTATING. But SOG decided to NOT place a corresponding indent on the scales in any of the 3 sets. Want to clean/adjust the knife? get 2 T6 screwdrivers out and hold that knife still.... cause SOG placed a super generous amount of loctite on them. I had to really heat up each one with a soldering iron to even attempt to break them free to adjust the knife. The XR lock was super strong out of the box (twice if not more force required to pull back than any other Axis style locks I have. BTW Kizer's Clutch Lock is now the ultimate version of the Axis lock... Benchmade falls to #2) After finally getting them all out I adjusted the Omega spring to be lighter, knife works great now and can easily pull the XR lock with a single finger on either side. Before it required both sides to be pulled and needed a good amount of force. I've tested out another SOG terminus at a retail store, that XR lock was also stiffer than a standard Axis lock, but not as stiff as mine was. Rotating pivot barrel, and stiff Omega springs. Beyond that the knife is good. Lightweight, ball bearings let that blade rotate super easily. Now SOG needs to make a 3.5" version and actually place indents in the scales to stop the barrels from rotating. and USE A T8/T10 for the pivot screw!

Not as Advertised
Yes I know most SOG knives are made in china now, but they didn't advertise the "CHINA" logo in ANY of their photos. When I got this knife and saw this under the S35VN text I was pretty annoyed. That kind of takes away that S35VN is a higher quality steel but oh wait, exactly below it says CHINA! I only bought this knife because: it WAS around $85 when I purchased it (its now over $100 in less than a week) , it is CPM CRYO S35VN steel, and has carbon fiber handles. Functionality wise action the isn't great (KPL will fix that but don't expect a miracle). Knife itself is pretty small. Much smaller than expected and I don't have giant hands by any means. You have to depress both the slide locks for it to open/close you cant just use one like spyderco or BM. After sharpening a little more it has become of of the sharpest knives in my collection so thats one positive. In conclusion, if it wasn't for the CRYO CPM S35VN steel, the carbon fiber handles, and that it matches one of my 9mm's perfectly, I'd return this knife in a heartbeat.

Unbeatable value with some minor flaws
I almost never write reviews, but it is almost criminal how few ratings this product has in comparison to all of the other folding knives in its class. My first 'real' knife was a Kershaw Blur which has assisted opening and uses 14C28N which is a great budget steel, but I didn't use it for EDC since it was too heavy and did not have a deep insert pocket clip. My biggest complaint about the SOG Terminus XR LTE is that XR lock, while excellent, is a bit stiff and does take a while to be broken in (wish it was easier to close the knife one-handed with just one finger). The flipper tab and thumb studs could be less sharp and not stick out as much. I also wish it was a bit thinner and have built-in grips as it can be harder to hold firmly. I have since owned cheaper and more expensive knives from Benchmade, Hogue, Zero Tolerance, Kershaw, CRKT, Gerber, and Civivi, all with different features (axis, button, and liner locks, serrated and tanto edge, Magnacut, 20CV, S30V, D2, 8Cr13MoV steels, longer 3.5" blade, skinnier frame), but this one is still my favorite all-rounder. Since this has a non-assisted action, I do recommend applying some knife oil, otherwise it is hard to consistently open the knife via flipper in a single motion. You get a lot of high end features for your dollar (S35VN steel, light carbon fiber body, XR lock), and while I have a few complaints and ideas for improvement, I do not believe you can get anything similar at the ~$100 price point. Unbeatable value and highly recommended.

Buen EDC
