Hi there, This was originally designed for carrying tools like light saws, pulleys, and savers. That being said it most definitely could also be used to hold carabiners.

is this the large or the small size?

Don't buy the small one, the one I had cracked off when it got snagged by a branch and fell into the ground cover below and never found
