This press is used to compact your herb or tobacco into a kake (with a "k") for easier use. The new design eliminates the problems associated with the older version that we sold but discontinued. 1. The aluminum dowels allow the press to be heated. Something that could not be done with a press using thermoplastic dowels. 2. The two extra pieces make it so that the press will not be jammed shut as with the older version. Also, the new compression pieces have slots in them for the handles. 3. The new press uses a different design that eliminates the problem of aluminum shavings that the old version had.
