Review: More than doubled my wifi speeds! - My ISP’s router was failing after only 6 months use. As they no longer provided a dual band router and I still use some 2.5Ghz devices, my internet searches for routers led me to the Netgear Nighthawk. The installation was very simple and the Nighthawk mobile app worked perfectly for a simple and fast install. I have a 3400 sq ft single floor home and I was able to use my Netgear Extender to sync with my Nighthawk to extend my wifi to the farthest point in my home. I love the monitoring and support features in the Nighthawk app and my overall wifi speeds have increased over 2x throughout my home. I am connected with 2 laptops, a network printer, 2 iPhones and 3 Roku devices for a 4K smart tv and 2- 720 dpi tv’s totaling 8 devices. I am currently using 2 of the 4 wired connections for a laptop and the network printer and everything else is wireless and exceeding my expectations. Outstanding product and simple installation!

A: You will need a modem. This is just a router.

**Q: Can i use the r7000p-100nas as the gateway (the first router to the house) for verizon fios. is there a better one with mimo dual band?**
A: Yes, you can use it as a Gateway for your Verizon FIOS.  It is a dual-band with Mu-Mimo.  Are there better ones? Yes, quite a few.  It all depends on what your needs are.  This one supports 802.11ac standard and has been around for a few years.  The current standard is 802.11ax which supports even faster speeds and a wider array of devices simultaneously... if your WiFi devices are new enough to support 802.11ax, not a lot are at this point.

**Q: Can you turn off Wi-Fi with a button on this product?**
A: Yes the R8000P has an illuminated button on the upper surface that allows the wireless to be turned off.
