The soles on the Bonny model are about average, so I needed to double up on the insoles, which I'd have to do for any other shoe. That's why I can't count that against them. The outer soles are nice and sturdy, they seem to be made of a composite of plastic. I work in retail, and they can slip if I'm in a hurry, but where the Bonny model really shines is on concrete. I went for a run in the freezing cold around the parking lot. I could feel every bit of the ground, and I could tell the shoe had good friction. The shoe also cleans easily. I get a lot of mud in my car and on my shoes because I park in a yard. It's easy to take a tissue, spit on it, and wipe off some dirt. It cleans right up!
