I accidentally did that, and the strip got extremely hot, melting the glue I used to mount it. Further, it seems I melted the the internal wiring, as the light strip only lit up about 1/3 of the way. Had I not realized my mistake, it might have caught on fire. Long story short, 24V will destroy this light strip.
