Hoover FloorMate Deluxe Hard Floor Cleaner Machine, Wash and Dry Mode

This came in the mail on Friday and I got to use it Saturday. It was triple packed so no damage was incurred via shipping. ASSEMBLY & USE: This floor cleaner was easy to assemble - almost intuitive. Using it needed directions. I didn't realize that while cleaning I should be pressing down on the dispenser button built into the D-shaped handle. Solution still is released even if you don't push it (it can be tedious to press down constantly) but just not as much. Then there's a boost button to press for extra detergent which was intuitive and self-explanatory. Using it while pressing down on the solution dispenser button does not "drown" your floor. When NOT pressing down on the solution dispenser button when pulling the cleaner back, it expedites your floor drying. VACUUM: A word on the vacuum part, which can be "activated" by switching to the "Dry" mode - keep in mind that this is primarily a wet floor cleaner and not a dry vac. Just like your advised not to order a steak when you go to a seafood restaurant, you shouldn't use this as a vacuum the way you'd use your regular dry vacuum. You're going to wear out the squeegee faster, for a start, but the solids you vacuum up will go into the dirty water tank making it more disgusting to clear out. If you have hairs on the floor from yourself, family members, or pets, that will more likely tangle in the suction parts or the filtered part of the dirty water container and that's sick to clean and weed out. Then when you dump that in your sink, you're dumping solids that don't always dissolve in water, so you're in turn doing your sink a mis-favor. True, one of the reasons to get this is the superior cleaning this does to traditional cleaning methods and the ease, oh, the ease! Nonetheless, you're way ahead if you sweep away solids with a broom and dust pan first, or use your regular dry vacuum instead of this. Cleaning that gunk will have to be done manually one way or another. Better to get at it before using the floor cleaner than not. If you use the floor cleaner to get it, the energy and extra work you thought you saved will get you anyway when cleaning out the suction section, brushes, filter of the dirty water container and from the sink hole. I did sweep very thoroughly before I used this but I didn't vacuum. There was a minimal amount of gunk and hair, but I was grateful it wasn't worse, like if I hadn't swept. Get it? Good :-) CLEANING QUALITY: Most of my house is carpets but my kitchen and hallway (connected) are imitation wood laminate and my bathroom floors are ceramic with brown grout. I did the bathrooms last - the dirty water dispenser wasn't so bad. But the kitchen... Check out the photos some people have shared (black mud water) and that's how my dirty water container looked after the first run. Nevertheless, the floor felt different. My spouse said it even looked lighter in color (blushing cheeks). After the second run, it was a slightly lighter black mud water. With the third run it was mud colored... I tell you, it was starting to get tedious and I was starting to grow suspicious that maybe the solution had a chemical reaction when touching the floor to turn a certain color. My suspicions were wrong and yes, paranoid. There was sediment with every cleaning in the dirty water dispenser. Then I went over the floor a fourth time and the water was a lot closer to looking clean. Really it needed a fifth or sixth time but I was beat (I had to move heavy things out of my hallway and bathrooms, plus I was house cleaning other things in between.) While the floor cleaner didn't get the corners and baseboards, doing so the old fashioned way - by getting down on my hands and knees with solution and a brush was infinitely easier and definitely way more enjoyable since with the floor already cleaned. And that's when I noticed something else: the smell of my floor: fresh. There was a slight solution smell but that is only close up. Before cleaning the floor, I remember dropping something that creeped its way under the stove. The floor smelled like it had a lot of foot traffic - not a foul smell, but like black pepper mixed with floor, if that makes any sense. Side note - I cleaned under the stove and refrigerator too...got rid of so so so so so much dust (first sweeping it, then wiping the floor with a Clorox wipe). Behind the fridge I found a collection of dust around the fridge vents, thank goodness I found it before my motor burnt out or a fire hazard happened. It was time to wrap everything up so I made sure both containers were empty and relatively dry. Then I popped out the brushes and rinsed them and cleared out the squeegee. That was that. EFFECT ON ALLERGIES: Normally I wake up slurpy - thanks to the "benefit" of allergies. This morning was different. Even though my bedroom is wall to wall carpeting, much like the rest of my house sans kitchen, bathroom, and hallway, I didn't think about how the minority clean hard floors would impact my allergies. I woke up still having allergies but no slurpiness - no runny nose and less crusty eyes. Yes, cleaning under the stove and the booming Dustopolis under, on, and behind my fridge I'm sure were a great help, but I also believe having such clean floors for the first time really made a difference! BOTTOM LINE: I love this floor cleaner. If I move, I'd try to find a way to take this with me in my car instead of ship it with the movers. I'd use this magic machine to clean floors in a place I'm moving out of to make the floors as good as new and definitely use it in a new place to clean the floors like they've never been touched, even if it takes more than 4 runs like my floor did (blush).

First off, let me just start by saying I LOVE MY HOOVER FLOORMATE!! :-) I have really bad knees and OCD, which leads to being unable to get the floor as clean as I want. I hate how steammops just push grime and dirt around and I hate having to rinse traditional mops all the time. I usually resorted to scrubbing the floor with rags under my feet since I couldn't kneel. So, I started searching for an easier way to mop. I wanted a machine that acted like a vacuum cleaner - push it back and forth and it does the work for you. The Hoover Flooremate does exactly that. I really, really love using it. Here are my gripes: 1. I have brand-new vinyl flooring. The first time I used the FloorMate, the lines between the edges of the vinyl showed up. No bueno. As I've used it more, the lines are less noticeable (just goes to show how NOT clean my steam mop was getting the floors). 2. It's loud. Okay, this isn't actually a gripe. I don't mind the noise. It's just like using a vacuum cleaner, which makes sense, since this functions like a vacuum cleaner. But for people who are expecting something noiseless, you gotta understand that this floor cleaner isn't going to be able to sneak up on you. :-) 3. The on/off button is hard to push. It's in an awkward place and you really have to push hard to get it to turn on/off. I don't really care for the smell of the cleaning solution. It bothered me at first - it's an unfamiliar, faint, chemical, cleaner smell. I adjusted after the first use and it no longer bothers me. It's just not that strong, honestly, and now it represents clean floors. :-) None of these gripes have prevented me from LOVING the machine, which is why I've given it five stars. What I love: 1. Not having to do the work myself! I really enjoy vacuuming - I get into my own world while pushing the machine back and forth. It's nice knowing the scrubbers are taking care of things. And it's nice knowing I'll still be able to keep my floors clean after my next knee surgery. 2. How clean my floors look and feel after using this! A note: The Hoover FloorMate DOES NOT vacuum things up. The squeegee on the front of the machine that scrapes the water off the floor prevents this (it pushes things around). But this hasn't been a problem. Just sweep first. :-) As I said, I have vinyl floors. (MUCH prefer them to tile. We removed tile and put in vinyl that looked like tile. It's warmer underfoot, doesn't crack or chip, is easier to maintain and keep clean, and things that drop onto it don't break.) I've used both the softer bristles and the harder bristles without problem. The Hoover FloorMate is probably my favorite household cleaner. I've been using it for several months now without problem. I really love how clean my floors are!

The first time I used the Hoover Floormate it leaked all over my floor. I chalked it up to user error and tried re-seating the tanks. It still leaked to some extent but was usable. Initial impressions were good. As the floor dried, I could see that the unit only cleans the "loose" dirt. Any dried stains (in my case dog drool from his food and water dish) will not be cleaned unless I go over the area 4-5 times, and sometimes they still persist. The Floormate worked moderately well for about 2 months until it suddenly started emitting a high shrieking sound and a burning smell. I checked the Hoover web site for information, and it directed me to a service number. I called 3 times, each time I waited for over an hour only to give up out of frustration. Before I disconnected eact time, I requested a call back. One week later I received a call from an out-of-state repair shop. The technician asked me a series of question and told me that the unit was under warranty. The person asked me what the specific issue was and after I explained she requested that I turn the unit on she could hear the issue for herself. I complied and she said, "I don't hear anything out of the ordinary". After a bit of back and forth she finally agreed to solicit a repair request with Hoover. I said, "you're not from Hoover?" and she replied "No, we're an independent repair shop that just assess as to whether a warranty claim is valid". 40 minutes into the call she finally entered the claim and told me that Hoover would be in touch via email. She also said that I would have to drop off the unit at a local repair shop, which is an 80-minute drive from my home. I received the email form Hoover and contacted their service rep. The rep wanted me to go through the entire process again, this time requesting video proof of the problem. Before we got too far into the conversation, I told them that I had surgery scheduled and would be out of commission for 3 months, so I could not drop off the faulty item at the repair shop. They said that a drop off is my only option. At this point I had enough of this nonsense and decided it was better just to take the loss, toss the unit in the garbage and never buy products from Hoover again. I also have a Hoover rug cleaner which broke after about 6 months due to a rusty turbine, which is a known problem they refuse to address. BUYER BEWARE!

Was five star, down to four less than 2 years later. Should probably be down to three or two, to be honest. (Incidentally, all the carpet is now removed. Original review below my latest comments). I got this in thing in September 2016 and it is an absolute lifesaver. I have since seriously injured my knee so some of the alternatives (such as doing 2000 square feet of uncarpeted house on my hands and knees, or scrubbing for hours with a deck brush) is simply no longer an option. This thing, for the price and cleaning power, is amazing. It *scrubs* the floor, it sucks and squeegees the water up, and it holds a decent amount of solution and water. I've been known, when doing the entire house, to toss a 5 gallon bucket of water and cleaning solution on the floor, and use this to scrub and suck up the dirt and water, dump the wastewater in the bucket and then just dump the bucket all at once. Truly, it's amazing, it's a lifesaver, it cleans well, and I'll replace it. Because I will have to replace it. Because it's made very, VERY poorly. *V-E-R-Y* poorly. As many other reviewers have mentioned, the machine simply stops working with no warning. Many of my friends have had them and had them repeatedly replaced under warranty because the motor rusts, or it simply won't turn on. No amount of babying the machine matters; it's just not made well. You take it in for repair and the motor is rusted through. There's nothing comparable on the market that I'm aware. Lindhaus makes a similar device for FIFTEEN TIMES the price. I can't find reviews on it and know nobody who uses one. (I did try my rug doctor on my concrete floors, and that didn't work either). If you have hard floors that need to be scrubbed, get this thing. If you hate cleaning the floors, get this thing. If you're injured and can't do them in a more manual way, get this thing. You'll love it (and I mean *LOVE* *IT*)...while it works. Get the warranty, for you own convenience. Know that you WILL have to replace it so you're prepared. (For that matter, if you have a large house with hard floors like I do, it may be prudent to get TWO so you can ensure you have a working one when the other is in for repair.) It will save you a lot of money, a lot of heartache, and help keep your home cleaner. As previously mentioend: pair it with a steam mop for more cleanliness. The climate in my town is such that if there's ANY solution of any kind on the floors, the floors get dangerously slick one to three days after having been scrubbed. A quick once over with a steam mop after I've used the scrubber and I'm good for two weeks or longer! (By which point the floors need to be cleaned again anyway, because pets). Original review: I've got very few rooms (2, and a couple of small closets) in my 2000 square foot house that have carpet; the rest are painted concrete. And I've been doing animal rescue for years, sometimes with animals which have been mistreated or are elderly or are in ill health. So the floors get dirty. I've scrubbed on my hands and knees (time consuming), scrubbed with a deck brush (exhausting but faster) and finally ordered this. I'd owned a previous model with a much smaller tank and while it got the job mostly done, the constant having to empty and refill the tank was overly frustrating. The first time I used this, I have to say I was completely delighted with it. The floors are clean with significantly less effort, and I was worried about pet hair, lint and other debris that I didn't happen to get with the broom clogging up the machine. I needn't have worried; every time I dump the tank, I clean out the squeegee assembly (which is simple) and about every other time I dump it, I detach the scrub brush assembly and pull off any hair or what have you. Some places where there were really stubborn spots, I needed to pre-spot treat, but this thing is amazing. It's easy to move; swivels and moves quickly and easily, and is slightly heavier than a vaccum when full of water, but it does the trick and is amazing at picking up the water. (I've used the tile attachment; I don't have hardwood so I can't rate that one). Definitely a worthwhile purchase! Edit: I bought this thing in September 2016; it's now April 2017. This thing is really taking a beating and coming back for more. There have been some really particularly sticky spots I've had to pretreat by soaking a rag in some solution (bleach, vinegar, Simple Green, whatever) and leaving it as long as overnight, but largely if a spot is stubborn I can just set the brush over it and walk away for a few minutes. The brushes pop out and are easy to clean. If it broke tomorrow I would cry, but I've gotten my use out of it and I'd order another one for sure. For the users complaining about the wet streaks, just go back over them without dispensing water, it's typically pretty good at getting almost all of the water up. If the remaining really bothers you, go back over it with a Shark Professional Steam Pocket Mop (S3601D); the two combined are an absolutely priceless combination.

Hi This is review for slightly different model (fh40150rm) not sold on Amazon - I got a refurbished one on a very heavy discount (one day discount) at manufacturer website, but thought I'd write my review here anyways, as I usually goto Amazon to read reviews of items I plan to buy. It may help someone! I do own a popular Hoover steam carpet cleaner and used it to clean both carpets and hardwood floors. However the dislike about it is weight of machine and that the tanks need little more time to clean once job is done. So I decided to try the hard floor cleaner. One concept I like is that clean water is always sprayed on floor, brushes do a good cleaning, and then dirty water is sucked into the discard tank. I do have a o'cedar microfiber mop that does a real good job. Here is a comparison with mop Pros: 1. Machine does not strain the back: you do not need to bend (while mopping) and is not that heavy either 2. The dry setting does a great job - I use it in areas where I feel someone would need to walk over immediately - example kitchen, high traffic areas 3. You can choose not to use the dry mode if you want to let the portion of floor dry over next few minutes - some water does get sucked back in this setting, and also saves time while cleaning as you avoid additional work with dry setting 4. Cord is long enough for working in living room, kitchen and garage 5. Does a good job in garage - picks up sand and granules. I did not need to vacuum the garage prior to cleaning. Really picks up dirt (see picture) as compared to a mop which we rinse in water that gets progressively dirty and use it. Since fresh water is used with spin brushes, the cleaning was really good. I loved walking barefoot in garage after the cleaning was done! 6. Tanks are fairly good in capacity, though little larger would have helped 7. Definitely better than using swiffer or steam mop as my floors often used to be little sticky as dirt/grime used to get pushed around with these Love the feeling of walking barefoot on floors (A steam carpet cleaner can do the same job bit its more bulky) Cons: 1. Use of electricity instead of manual job 2. more time consuming - would not like to do this in routine. Would like to alternate between mop and machine 3. You will need to vacuum the living room/kitchen etc before cleaning with this machine as it will not pick up some items like large bits of potato wafers, bits of paper, peas. However this will definitely suck up the sand granules. (trick- if you see a larger piece of garbage on floor, tilt this machine on its wheel and place the suction area over the larger debris. The machine should then be able to suck that into the tank) Overall a good addition to your machine collection (I now have a steam cleaner, carpet shampoo machine, electric vacuum, battery operated vacuum, and now this one! - the machines are taking over!) Update 22-Mar-2016: Only caution is that some tiles/floor may get minute scratches - I just saw some on tiles in my garage against sunlight. I like the cleaning capability of this machine to purchase it 3 times. When the 1st one died, I went back and read all the reviews and one mentioned a fix for making it last longer (basically making sure all the water was cycled out so it wasn’t left sitting with standing water inside). I dutifully followed those instructions and 15-18 months later that one died, too. Machine#3 arrived and didn’t work straight out of the box. I was sent a replacement, but first had to send a photo proving that I had CUT THE POWER CORD OFF, along with 2 other photos with barcodes, etc. My last machine just quit on me today. It smelled like a belt burned up, a lot of loud noises, and then it went dead. The machine works great…for awhile. I am shopping for a different brand, may one with more longevity.

Okay, I've only used it once, but I'm sold. I used this on tile floor in 5 areas on our residence. I bought the deluxe version so that I had the tile and grout brush, along with the wood floor brush, rather than just an all purpose brush that comes with the lower priced model. Also, I bought a bottle of the tile and group cleaner from Hoover, rather than use the all purpose cleaner that comes with the unit. The unit worked great. It was easy to set up, and easy to push around the floor. It has a special cleaning capability on tough spots, and that worked just fine. It also has a dry-only mode, and I only used that on one area. I picks up dirty water as it goes along, and left the floor reasonably dry. You just run the unit over an area a second time without spraying more cleaning fluid, and it picks up the dirty fluid on the floor. And the dirt really came up. I had run our steam cleaner over the floor a month ago, but the floor apparently was in need of a cleaning. The dirty water that is vacuumed up shows you just how much dirt was on the floor. This can help you judge how often you need to clean. If the water comes up fairly clear, maybe you can wait longer, and vice versa. Picking the dirty water up is just about the best feature. No more moving dirt around with a mop, or scrub brush, or steam cleaner. The dirt get vacuumed up, and is gone. Clean up was a snap. Easily rinse the two tanks out. Take off the squeegee thing in the front, and rinse it off. The brushes were not dirty and needed no cleaning, but they come out easily for cleaning, or to swap out another brush type. Although I vacuumed first with a new vacuum, by the way, the FloorMate seemed to pick up even more dust. It showed up on the dirty water tank, and in the squeegee area, as clumps of dirt. I even noticed one small dust clump that vacuuming missed. I watched it get sucked up into the brush area of the FloorMate. It seems to have a pretty good vacuuming ability. There is a filter that the dirty water flows through, but it didn't seem to get very clogged. Rinsing it out was easy too. Okay, there might be one or two criticisms. The power button is mounted pretty low on the unit, not near the handle. I don't like that. Also, it does not have a self-storing cord as on the new Hoover vacuum we bought at the same time. That would be a nice feature. These are not major points though, but I wanted to point them out to be fair As you can tell, I'm sold. I'll be telling my friends about this. One of my better purchases, for sure.

Totally love this updated model. We had one for years at another home and used it mainly for our entrance way & kitchen tile floor. With 3 dogs and a lot of foot traffic given the central location in our home, it got a lot of hard use and served us well. That model had a much smaller container for the cleaning liquid so it required multiple refills to finish the floor. It really never stopped working, we just decided it was time to let it go so it didn't make the move with us. The new model we just received has a larger container for the cleaning fluid and works great! We have a lot of tile floors as we are in south Florida now and I didn't but this right away -- so I just used a manual spray/push mop and soon decided that was ridiculous :) In looking at all the different floor cleaners available, I decided once again this was the best bang for your buck! Certainly cuts the time in half and much easier on your back than a manual mop! This is worth every penny and a lot of bang for your buck without going to a more expensive machine. I usually sweep up at least in the kitchen first, so I don't expect this to be a vacuum cleaner, but it does have enough suction and pull up whatever is left behind. I don't expect to use it to clean our area rugs, but I have run it over a thin throw rug and it works fine. We don't have wood flooring but this seems to put out just enough moisture to do the job so it would not oversaturate your flooring and should work well. I like that it also has a trigger you can use for extra cleaning solvent to be dispensed for a tough spot on the floor. Just like after I would mop, I don't expect the floor to be completely 100% dry when I'm finished, but this does have a "wet / dry" lever and the dry side does pull up any excess fluid on the floor so in my book it works great and whatever is left behind dries up quickly. I hope it lasts us as long as the other one (many years!) and this one won't have to work quite as hard because our layout is different and we have fewer dogs now. So this is a good little workhorse and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Es mi primera aspiradora y al recibir buenas criticas de la pagina de amazon de EU decidí probar suerte con esta, tengo pisos de azulejo tipo madera en mi casa y el uso del trapeador y la escoba solamente al principio fue suficiente pero con el tiempo empezaron a acumular entre los bordes suciedad que no pude quitar con escoba y trapeador y que solo cepillando se removía. El cepillar todos los pisos de la casa no era algo que me gustaría hacer constantemente para que los pisos amaderados lucieran bien, por lo que adquirí esta aspiradora, y fue una agradable sorpresa ya que con la primera pasada se vio una mejora que si lo hacia con puro trapeador, al pasar la aspiradora cepilla realmente los pisos y los deja muy bien, no tan bien que si pasaras cepillo manualmente. Una de las cosas que me encanto es que ahora no tengo que ensuciarme las manos para secar el trapeador y cambiar el agua constantemente por lo sucia que queda despues de una pasada, ya que la aspiradora cuenta con un tanque para el agua con jabon y otro para recoger la suciedad, por lo que el agua que el piso recibe todo el tiempo es limpia y no agua sucia o medio sucia por las pasadas que se le da con la jerga. La Floormate cuenta con un boton que de acuerdo a las instrucciones se utiliza en los casos en que hay una mancha mas pegada o el piso esta mas sucio sin embargo en mi caso en particular tengo que presionar todo el tiempo este boton ya que de lo contrario no limpia el piso bien, pues por los bordes de los pisos estos absorben mas agua. Por esta misma situación he decidido mejor antes de pasar la aspiradora pasar la jerga rápidamente por el piso para que este se humedezca y al pasar la aspiradora pueda remover mejor la suciedad. Un dia se inundo una de las habitaciones por una fuga y con ayuda de la aspiradora seque inmediatamente, ya me habia pasado alguna vez en otro cuarto por tener mucha presion en la tuberia y para limpiar todo me llevo una hora aproximadamente pero en esta ocasion con ayuda de la aspiradora secar me llevo unos 15 minutos. Por ultimo cabe mencionar que la aspiradora no es capaz de aspirar mas que polvo, pelos de animales cuando mucho, pues si por ejemplo hay un grano maíz palomero este no sera aspirado, por lo que antes de pasar la aspiradora debe pasar la escoba. Después que se acabo el limpiador liquido que viene en el paquete utilicé fabuloso con agua y me funciono muy bien.

I got tired of mopping my floors, so I bought myself this. I love it. Description is exact. But heavier than a vacuum and a bit louder too. Cleans my apt laminate floor and tiled bathroom floor with ease. Easy to snap together. Comes with a small bottle of cleaning solution. Only thing, it is hard to find the cleaning solution that goes with it in stores, most is carpet cleaner from this brand, cant use solution that has lots of suds. DIY solution should work as long as its not bleach or dish soap.

Worst and waste....don't buy.......first non return....second no spares and service available in india....even one min its not working.....0 🌟 is not there to give my rating....

El producto es bastante bueno. Lástima la capacidad que lo obliga a uno a tener que llenar el receptáculo varias veces. Tal vez para áreas pequeñas funcione bien una sola llenada, pero para áreas grandes hay que llenar dos o tres veces el tanque. Fuera de eso, talla los pisos de maravilla, ojo funciona aún mejor si se pasa muy despacio y se deja actuar bien a los cepillos y a la succión. De hacerlo así los pisos quedan como en su anuncio secos, así que si hay que dedicarle un tiempo. Los productos de limpieza duran muchos usos si se compran en original. En realidad limpia bien pero no es el producto de 10 minutos antes de que lleguen los invitados, hay que darle su tiempo a trabajar para que deje los pisos como tallados a mano. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.

Ah, the Hoover FloorMate—the mop that dreams big, tries its best, and occasionally just pees a little when you give it cold water. Let’s start with the positives: this thing cleans like a champ! My floors have never been shinier, and I’m honestly questioning whether I was living in filth before. It scrubs, it vacuums, it dries—all with the enthusiasm of a golden retriever discovering its first snowfall. Bravo, Hoover! Now, the quirks. First, it doesn’t like warm water. At all. Pour in anything more than lukewarm, and it throws a little tantrum, leaking like a nervous intern on their first day. Solution? Treat it like a spa guest and serve only cold water. Then there’s the Clean Boost button, which I suspect was designed by someone who enjoys chaos. Touch it, and you might summon the ghost of all past spills. Water goes everywhere. The floor? Cleaner, yes, but also a slip-n-slide. My advice? Pretend that button doesn’t exist. It also seems to be connected to the system leaking. Despite its little personality quirks, I genuinely love this machine. It has taken my cleaning game to the next level, and I honestly can’t live without it (well, I could, but I’d rather not). Final verdict: 4.5 stars! A lovable, slightly dramatic cleaning companion.
