One of the best pool vac's on the market
I have to say without a doubt this is one of my better purchases. My old pool vac was not getting the job done and I needed something that woud. I have a theory that I will be sorry if I go cheap, yet I don't want to pay too much. This pool Vac was a clinch to install and get it running as designed. I have had now for almost a year and I am still amazed at how well it cleans. Could not be happier.

A1+ Product
8For 30 years I used and maintained an Arneson Pool Sweep until March of this year. Parts being impossible to find and no one alive that knew how to repair them, I finally decided to cough up the big bucks and make a change. After speaking to a technical friend, with a pool, asking what he used, he said for the last 3 years he had used a 3900 Sport with no problems. Researching Amazons reviews, I was alarmed by many of the responses. So I called Polaris' Bonnie Shaw directly at 760.230.2424 and asked her about these reviews. She informed me that when this product came out there were some technical problems that were addressed and fixed and that new units were performing as advertised. She assured me that I should have no problems as long as the current model was used. On her recommendation, and that I my friend, I purchased and installed the new unit and within 3 hours my pool was spotless and the unit worked as represented. I have a large 35,000 gallon pool in the configuration of an offset figure eight, the shallow end being shallow enough for most 5 year olds to be above water, and the diving end being 9.5 feet deep. I followed the instructions on cutting lines and measuring rotations. NO Problems and easy to do. The only adjustment I need to make is in the tail which does not sweep. I have not been able to do the complete adjustment yet, due to the temperature and rain in our area over the past few weekends. No matter, It still cleans everything but some narrow steps. To date, I am thrilled and would buy this again and will recommend it to anyone. I am over 70 and have arthritis in my back and knees and if I can do this, anyone can do this. At this point I believe that most of the bad reviews are from people who didn't read and/or use the instructions properly, or are from misleading competing products. As time goes on, I will comment on my own review, if any problems occur or if the status quo is maintained. **UPDATE ** 3 years later,, Everything running at normal...P00l spotless and the only thing I have done is replace the bag when a stick was picked up and tore the bag. I also replaced the sponge end. I can't recommend a product enough. Old Tex

Cleaner gets stuck and can't seem to free itself
This pool cleaner is awful. It is the second Polaris cleaner that I've bought and I mistakenly believed that the cheaper one I had (the Polaris 280) would be outperformed by buying this cleaner. Even though I have adjusted the thrust jet in all different ways and checked the wheel RPM, this unit gets hopelessly and forever stuck in parts of my pool and will stay there for hours/days if I don't unstick it. It frequently ends up on its side, traveling on the wheels which means it picks up no debris as it moves around the pool. I am very worried that as it gets stuck in one place for such long periods of time that is wearing down the surface of my pool in the location it is stuck. Both Polaris cleaners I have did this. The cleaner also gets tangled on its cord which has the effect of getting it stuck in one place and the bag got stuck in the wheel drive and ripped. The bags are really expensive. I am deeply disappointed in the product and Polaris's support of it. They've advised me to take it to a dealer but I bought the unit new and it's been exhibiting this behavior since I bought it. I wanted a refund and for them to take the product back to which they refused. Do NOT spend the money for this product. It could ruin your pool and Polaris won't take any responsibility for it.

excellent upgrade over the old 280 & 380 models.
The Polaris 3900 does a great job cleaning your pool. Right out of the box, 5 minutes to fully operational. We got the "black" version. The hose is soft and flexible making it very easy for the unit to move around, and the tail sweep performs just like it has for 30+ years in the model line. Comapred to the older 280 & 380 models, the 3900 has the 3 vinturi jets of the 380, but adds a dual chamber bag, larger wheels, and a streamlined shape that makes it easier for the unit to move through the water. We also noticed that it seems to move noticably faster than our old 280. The 3900's wheels are a bit ridiculous, they look comically large and they are a lot closer together than the old 280 and 380 frame. However the benefits of the larger diameter include smoother motion across the floor, and they are easier to get over bumps like floor drains that tended to catch the 280 and 380 models. Overall it's a huge improvement on the older models, and depending on desires for automated cleaning, well worth the cost.

Delivered quickly, easy install, & working well.
I received this very quickly after I ordered it. I replaced my previous Polaris which had worn out. It was an easy install. I had to trim the feeder tube down a little bit since I have a small pool, but it was easy with scissors. The quality of the cleaning on the new unit is excellent. You may have to adjust the angle of the nozzle on the bottom of the unit so that it goes up the walls properly. Otherwise, it tends to gets stuck easily. The automatic reverse capability on the device is really nice because it keeps it from getting stuck as well. It is on a timer and every few minutes it will reverse the unit in case it is stuck against a wall or in an awkward location.

AMAZING!
Only day 2 of running this but what an improvement! Our old Polaris just stopped working but this new one seems more durable and less components that could go wrong. The setup was simple and it has been working hard trying to get our pool clean! Im dumping out crap out of the bags every several hours! Our last one died this past summer so the new one, has had lots of cleanup to do. I'm so glad we decided to go ahead and purchase a new one instead of fixing the old. The sport is far better than the original Polaris. I will definitely update in 6 or more months if it is still working great. As of now, I am impressed.

Originally defective- ONE STAR- now fantastic - FIVE STARS.
I purchased a Polaris 3900 August 2017 for my new house. There was a problem for close to a year- the cleaner was sluggish, constantly getting stuck, back up valve did nothing, tail didn't sweep. All these issues were day 1, right out of the box. I hated this thing and was ready to rate it a ONE STAR and ship it back to Polaris. After hours spent troubleshooting, purchasing a new pump (another $400!), returning to pool store for warranty repair etc etc etc, a lot of online research, i finally tried a replacement quick disconnect, and BRAVO it works perfectly now. It was caused by a defective pressure relief valve in the quick disconnect, which in hindsight should have been obvious because the original pressure valve was discharging too much water at the disconnect when operating. The new one discharges no water and enables the pressure to go to the wheels, tail sweep and backup valve. The thing works like a charm now!! If you are having the same problems with sluggish performance, spend less than $15 and get a new quick disconnect with pressure relief valve. I hope this helps others. Try it. Now the Polaris Vac-Sweep 3900 is great. By the way Polaris customer service is excellent.

Bien mais fragile
C’est le 5ieme en 10 ans…fonctionne bien mais s’use les rouages internes s’usent et la vanne régulatrice de surpression se casse…un construction plus solide serait la bien venue
