Does the torch take standard burner butane canisters?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Video attached for demo. It will fit the small butane canisters (MSR, Coleman, Jet Boil etc..) but you will have to buy an adapter for around $10-$15 for the butane tanks only.  Amazon link attached below :)

Is there any of that "propane taste" in the meat? I used a regular old torch once, and let's just say even the dog went hungry that night.

Great question! There is no fuel taste or torch taste with this product. It is important to hold the end of the flame on the food when you are cooking to ensure that no fuel is transferred to the meat/food. If you do that, the fuel will have burned off before it reaches your food. We have sold thousands of these torches with no complaints about torch taste. Will it work to lite charcoal in the Big Green Egg?

We have several customers that use it on Instagram to light their Big Green Egg. Make sure to follow all guidelines and limitations that the manufacturer of Big Green Egg recommends. This torch reaches temperatures over 1800 degrees Fahrenheit and in a confined area could reach higher temps. All things considered though, we have not had anyone report any issues using the torch to light their Big Green Egg.
