American Doctoral Tam, Black Velvet 8-Sided Doctoral Cap with a Gold Tassel, Men and Women Hat Sizes XS-XL

I bought this tam because, unlike the others that were "one size fits most," this one is adjustable. It is a high-quality item and fits well. My only reservation is that the Velcro adjustment is on the side rather than on the back where it would be less noticeable.

I'm giving this tam an F. It's poorly designed. The adjustable Velcro tab is located so that if you wear the tam with the tassel hanging on your left side the Velcro tab will sit directly over your right ear. The tab bulges a bit and there's a slit right over it where the headband meets the crown. So the Velcro tab is quite noticeable in an unsightly sort of way on the side of your head. The gold tassel is sewn to the tam so that there's no way to adjust its location. In short, if you wear this tam with the Velcro tab where it belongs--at the back of your head--you will have the gold tassel hanging right above your nose! Fristaden needs to go back to school and redesign this product.

The tam is fine for the price, but the velcro tab is not centered, so to avoid the tassle in my eyes (which is sewn in place), I had to turn the tam as to avoid the velcro closure from being on the side of my head. Also, the top of the tam flattens out which gives the item a beret-look while wearing. Overall, it's fine for twice a year use.

A little tight around the head but it is a good product

Extremely poor quality.

I specifically ordered the Tam because it listed a "velvet band". I did not want to have a different fabric on the band.
