I've tried a number of different packing tapes, but most were too flimsy and either tore, or, when the tape fell back against the roll, it was impossible to free it so that I could use it again. The Scotch heavy duty tape was easy to work with, and a number of years ago they redesigned the dispenser, and the tape is much less likely to fall back on the roll.
