I looks black , but it's actually green, very dark green. It is a good watch I use it for work. I am a bridge carpenter, imagine lots of banging and tough handling, dirt and sweting, etc. Very good for the price.

Movement made in japan?

Yes at that time. Presently don't know if they still using Japanese movement

How to shorten the strap?

Go to a jeweler and lay $10. Some do it for free to get your business. You need the right tools and the experience and the coordination. I had non of these.
