It works
What makes this tool work is the high-quality construction. The velcro strap is 1¾ inch wide, plenty long rubberized strap with enough tough velcro attached, and high-quality stitching. The dial indicator is high-quality, simple, easy to point and secure with the attached knob. I have a Day6 ebike, a bike known for odd tubing plus the ebike cabling and cable stops. I was able to attach the wheel truing tool to my front fork or to the rear seat stay, and set the dial indicator against the wheel rim easily. Once the tool is attached and set, it stays, it doesn't wobble, and you can spin the wheel and work on the spokes. The Day6 ebike is plenty difficult to work on, and this tool enables me to work the wheel truing without pulling the wheels off. Happy to have it. It was hard to decide what to score this product, 3 stars, 4 stars, 5 stars. I decided it must be judged on it's own merit--not compared to professional tools--judged as a portable tool. It stands alone as such altho I'm aware of portable wheel truing tool from the UK that costs 50% more.

not designed for thin frames
Works great on my kid's mountain bike where the tubing is more than 1 inch thick, but you will need to add a spacer between the frame and the strap in order to get it to hold when the frame components are thinner. Cut a two inch section of rubber hose and wrap the strap around the hose and the frame and you'll be all set.

Better than the expensive truing stands.
This pocket tool is so easy to use and works great. I find it to be better than my expensive wheel truing stand. Just attach it anywhere you can and line up the needle to the rim.
