Will it withstand a boy who loves to test the strength of things?** A: Not tough at all. I've had them for 6 yrs through 2 grandchildren (one's a boy) and they've held up well. **Q: Can these be used on a pegboard mounted on a wall?** A: Yes, but the white pieces with holes would either have to be mounted individually or glued together and mounted as one piece. The holes in the white pieces are not very large; probably nails could be used to mount them. **Q: Are these gears motorized?** A: No, it is not motorized. That's part of the fun. The child can set these up in many different shapes and plans, and watch them move as the little one has set them up. Depending on the degree of difficulty the child implements in the set up, there will be gears turning in different directions. **Q: Can this set be combined with the marble run elevator set, in some sort of interesting way?** A: Don’t know about the marble set described.
