Good Design, Easy Install and Quiet Operation
I like the dual bar system to raise the lid as it works more smoothly than other brands with a single bar. However, like all others, the housing is made of plastic so it is advised to use a vent cover to prevent the wind from catching the lid. Very quite when running. The instructions were good and installation is very straight forward. Maxxaire vent cover attaches very easily. Note that the serial number label is printed with poor ink and will smear if washed so be careful as the first thing Maxxaire repair will as for a warranty claim is the unit's serial number.

Solid and powerful no frills 12VDC Fan
Compared to a fan with more options this is just as good for basic operation. They only blow out but they move a lot of volume, are quite. On high they use about 2.5amp, on low about .5 according to the solar controller I am using to power my DC system. Very happy with these so far. Love being able to remove the screen from the interior to clean it! Glad I bought these over the more expensive and feature rich fans.

Worked great for 3 weeks!!!
So I purchased this item in Jan 2016 to install on a camper I am rebuilding. I actually installed it in Apr 2017 and it worked like a champ for about 3 weeks until it started to chirp like a bird. It continued to get louder so I took the fan blade off hoping there was a rub/contact causing the loud annoying sound. Unfortunately it is the motor making the sound. I cant find any recourse on Amazon...I assume because it was purchased over 3 months ago. This is quite expensive for a fan and for it to fail so soon is poor. I recommend buyers look into other options.

The review was good but this is a very basic fan
The review was good but this is a very basic fan. The lowest end on this company. No intake just exhaust but ok for bathrooms and quality is ok

Works good after a slight issue...Update 2020 with a downgrade
When I installed the fan, before I secured and sealed it I hooked it to power to see if it works. Low and behold, it sure didn't. I grabbed the trusty multimeter and began checking all the wires and the motor. There's a permanent fuze soldered on the board, and there's where I isolated the fault to. Rather than go through the hassle of returning it to amazon, I called up maxxair (a subsidiary of dicor corporation, go figure), and explained the situation. A technician named Derek was pretty helpful when I explained the situation and what I had done to troubleshoot it. He would send me a new circuit board, and all he needed was the model and serial number and the date I purchased it. I didn't have those during that conversation, so I got the information and called back the next day. I spoke to another technician named Dark that was helpful but less enthusiastic than Derek. I gave time the info, and three days later I had a brand new circuit board. I swapped it out for the malfunctioning one, hooked it up, and it works like a champ. It move air very well. I had a cover over my rv, so I opened all the windows and set the fan to max(4), and the rv cover was actually drawn closer to the windows. I like so far. The fan wobbles a little bit, and yes, on high its noisy, but you show me a fan moving at close to 1000 rpm that doesn't noise. I'm pretty sure other is no thing. Install was easy, pulled the old vent out and popped this one in. Routing the wires to a light fixture took some time; I threaded them through the ceiling insulation and that took a great deal of effort. Once hooked up, I trimmed the bonnet, mounted it, and boom. Fan is officially working. The cover seems sturdy. It ratchets a little when I close the lid, but I can deal with it. The two-bar lifter is money. Nice and sturdy. And the fan moves air. The only negative to this is this particular model has four tabs that allow one to purchase a special cover that goes with unit. I just cut them off. So far, I like the fan. Even more, I had a good experience with their customer service. If you don't need any fancy contraption with more buttons than you know what to do with, this unit seems like a decent fan. And it does move air. August 2020 Went to turn it on, and the switch no longer works. For the price paid, one would figure that youre getting a decent product, but guesss not. Their warranty for the fsn is two years, and im three years out since purchase. But now i just have a glorified 14 inch square hole in my RV roor. Im going to try to get a new switch from the company, if they wont send me one then im probably going to try to repair the old one or do some research on a way to upgrade it to a one myself. For the short term it was good. Foe the long term, it seems that its relly not a durable product. The switch and printed board are known to have problems, and now longevity can be added to that list. With this update i have to say i dont recommend this product. If its only goijg to last three years, the cost and time to install it are not worth it.

Better than Fantastic.
I bought this to replace an OEM bathroom exhaust (with the tiny 6 inch fan that doesn't do anything). Install was a snap, and I like the way this functions better than the Fantastic Fans (I have two of those) I deducted one star because these are not compatible with the MaxxAir vent cover, and I would expect them to be. (I already had the MaxxAir Vent covers installed)

Moves a lot of air and is very quiet on lower speeds.
The vent cover for the bedroom vent was getting sun damaged and brittle, so I took the plunge and bought this as a replacement. I read many reviews about the Fantastic Fans being noisy with the recent change to the pancake motor. I have had Fantasic Fans in previous RVs and I really liked them. This time I decided to try out the MaxxAir. The installation was not too difficult after getting the existing Dicor off of the roof and the old vent out. My RV has a rubber roof and I wanted to ensure that I didn't damage it with metal tools. So I hit up Home Depot and bought a 3 pack of plastic putty knives. With some good old elbow grease (there is no way to get the existing Dicor off easily) it took me about 30-45 minutes to get the old vent removed. I cleaned up the roof for the new vent and pre-fit the MaxxAir which fit perfectly. I applied putty tape from the Camco 25003 Universal Vent Installation Kit that I also bought, slipped the MaxxAir into the hole, and screwed it in. I then applied a very liberal amount of new Dicor over the screw heads and where the flange meets the roof. It took me about 1.5 hours to install. This fan moves air on high! I really like that it has 4 speed settings and the lowest are very quiet. I can sleep with the fan on 1 or 2 (max is 4) which is located right above my head and have no problem sleeping. I also bought one to replace the vent and worthless fan in the bathroom, I just need to get around to installing it.

This manual roof vent is the strongest best unit I have ever seen. Heavy construction and wide. Mounting tabs makes it really good also. Would recommend this unit for all users highly

Good quality with stainless steel mounting screws, which indicates that the manufacturer care about customer satisfaction

The wiring was connected as per instructions. It immediately shorted out at the electrical card. The former unit with a broken cover was reinstalled and functioned normally.

Great vent for the RV, its so simple and nice. Its actually better than the Maxxair with the remote control in someways because its just simple on and off, same venting quality, no reverse on it but never have needed it to suck are in, only push air out exhaust... The simple hand crank to open it is great too, with the maxxair with the remote you cant just open it a little itll be open or closed and in the winter this white maxxair fan one is much better to crack it open a little

Quiet fan easily replaces the original in my TT The only down side was that my trailer has a separate on/off switch on the vanity and the fan does not retain the last setting. I wish the description indicated that it was set up already for a particular Maxx air cover.
