The iDVM 510 is a truly professional grade multimeter, meeting IEC/EN61010 CATIII 1000V & CATIV 600V safety standards. This 6000 count multimeter has the resolution needed for engineers, technicians and electricians at a price that is affordable for DIY or home users. Best of all the meter connects to a mobile device allowing remote measurement, data visualization, and data logging set up. With the on-board memory, the iDVM 510 can autonomously log data for minutes, hours or days.

A very good answer for those of us on a DIY budget ...
A very good answer for those of us on a DIY budget needing to datalog. The pro-level stuff (e.g. Fluke) is way too expensive, and the Home Depot (i.e. consumer level) stuff doesn't have anything near the functionality. This is a great mid-priced solution, my compliments to the manufacturer for an excellent job of product positioning and design. One thing to note: I combined this with their iDVM 333 current clamp (also works great) and had a need to datalog some electric current readings on a pump over the course of a week in an M&V application. There's enough data capacity (~20K samples if I remember right?), presuming you don't need a reading every second. But this unit is only powered with a 9V battery, and I had to use the Bluetooth recording feature. That option is a relatively big drain, and the very fresh 9V battery died after a day and a half (twice). I was all ready to pounce on what looked like an obvious design flaw: who doesn't provide an external power hookup on a datalogger? But first I emailed the company, who was very responsive. Turns out that their CAT-III rating (i.e. being able to connect and measure up to 1000 volts) means that they don't want an external power cable piercing the box. Ok, that makes sense. My application was fairly low voltage, so the company was very helpful in suggesting a fix: I bought a 9V battery connector from Radio Shack (yes, they're still in business), and wired it to a large-capacity lithium battery that I happened to have. But it could be any 9V-DC source - in fact the Redfish told me that a bit below 9V is fine). That same Radio Shack also sells cheap power supplies that could be used for this purpose, so this is a very doable solution in a lot of situations where you need long periods of datalogging. However, I would recommend that you email the Redfish people and get specific advice for your particular application. In my case it worked perfectly, and I had no trouble recording all the data I needed over the course of the week.

Amazing meter, amazing price. Can't go wrong, Data logging & Smart Phone features rocks
Supports was great with the quickest SMS text follow up. Seems to have a built-in thermometer, bonus, however built-in is not nearly as responsive as the included wired thermometer.Data logging is great and exports SQL, CSV, PNG,PDF,& HTML. GPS is added from your mobile device and is nice to have. This replaces my Fluke 77. Non contact voltage has 4 levels indicating intensity. It works as well as most NCV systems. Magnet strap won't hold on Load panel unless it is perpendicular to the strap. That said if meter is on the floor and you need to just tilt up one side the magnetic strap works even if you have unstable surface where the built in stand won't work.I was disappointed that the $28 case is not available on Amazon and cost $12 to ship from redfish! Perhaps they will fix that for us prime members? I did get the case and am glad have it for peripherals. and tossing in tool bag. Thanks redfish for offering the bag. I love it.The Bluetooth connected very well. I wish when the back light was turned on it would stay on longer than 23 seconds I would like 2-10 minutes or have it controlled by my preference, instead of just a short 23 secs.Speaking of prefs. there are a lot of preferences. But some expected preferences or simply just omitted like selecting the default for degrees centigrade versus Fahrenheit -it always goes to centigrade. I've seen others complain about the DC voltage requiring a second function push between AC in DC each time. This doesn't seem to bother me at all. Because I'm always going back-and-forth. But when I use the temperature I'm only interested in Fahrenheit. I know other countries and most of the rest of the world are much more progressive but that's where we're out here in the F° USA. For the price I paid 150 I'd buy it again 100 times over.Bluetooth had a pretty good range I was able to go about 45 feet away but that distance was one floor lower and about two rooms (3 walls) over. The range seemed to be superior to most older Bluetooth protocols. I was able to measure AC voltage an outlet in the kitchen while flipping the breaker in the basement and watch it on my iOS app - perfect confirmation. And even if Bluetooth doesn't reach far enough I can always data log.It seems sturdy and in my opinion could easily handle a 4 foot drop or more. It's not rated under 5°C I would've expected at least a few degrees below freezing. It's only about 20 here right now even at 20° F the test leads start to get stiff. It would be great if the insulating plastic was supple at lower temperatures.Super cool company super awesome meter. One side ( read to end ) note I did have it "crash" (it just turns off) during Hz measurements and 240vac. This only happened twice and when I turned it back on and it seem to work normal again. But support to my rescue they swapped my meter and I've never seen a problem again.By the way turning it on takes less than a second. You wouldn't even know there was software loading, other data loggers can be laggy on boot. So great meter with just a few nit picky items above.

Loving This Meter.
Update- Meter is great,iOS mirroring app is awesome, leads & probes good, alligator clamps Poor! The threaded part of the alligator clips are a separate piece of cast metal stamped on to the clip with two dimples. The problem is the thin material that makes up the clip deflects during the stamping process and fails to securely lock the two parts together. I’ve now had both of clips come apart during use. Fortunately RedFish has very good customer service & quickly sent me new clips but they’re exactly the same problematic design. I can imagine a scenario where a clip detaches & contacts something it shouldn’t. I very much like the multimeter but now looking for a set of quality probe clips or a fix.——- original review, My last meter lasted 25 years & was a dinosaur compared to this. I’m retired & the family electrician/auto mechanic. This meter with the remote viewing app has already proven itself invaluable. I’ve found Every claim made by the manufacturer to be accurate. The Bluetooth iOS mirroring app works perfectly. The only negative besides the clip issue is the actual RedFish protective case is far too expensive. I solved this by purchasing an excellent hard case here on Amazon for $15.My only regret is that I didn’t have this 20 years ago.Check out the pictures of the inside guts of the meter, really good stuff inside including high quality protective fuses. Inside & out it’s well designed tool with features only found on units costing much much more, and I can attest to responsive customer support.I highly recommend this meter.I did NOT receive this or at a discount in return for my review.I’ve been looking to replace my old meter for several weeks & after much research concluded this is the best value.I’m not associated with any product or seller!
