I misplaced my special needs son right wrist brace that prevented his wrist from bending at all. Does this do that?

Yes, this brace will stabalize and prevent the wrist from bending. It worked well for my 6 year old daughter. She said it was comfortable, and never complained about having to wear it. It is durable and the same quality as what you would get from a doctor. It also cleans well and is cheap enough to purchase another as a backup.

The title says "x small" but the description says "2x small". Which is it?

I would say xsmall. My son is 4.5 and it was a little big for him, it did what we needed it to do, but he could have used a smaller size for sure.

Does this come with the metal piece to stabilize?

Yes. They are also removable for washing if need be.
