The 3.5mm jack is used and the audio selector switch is set to "L/R" HOWEVER, the input is at 'Line" input level and not at mic level. As we already have the L/R at line level, we use a "RCA" style plug to 3.5mm male adapter cable. If your input is actually a microphone, a preamplifier is required to feed the inserter at the correct L/R level. **Q: Does the Blackbird 4K HDMI inserter combine input from DVI-only Macs and toslink (or L/R analog)? A similar looking Bytecc HM-CV032K does not.** A: There is a switch that selects what type of audio you are going to send down the HDMI cable. They do not combine, you have to choose which one you are using. Hope this helps **Q: Is the analog to digital conversion of L/R audio high fidelity enough for high end home theater use when fed a volume-controlled signal?** A: yes it is. **Q: Can i use this device without incoming hdmi? i want to send the 3.5mm audio to the output hdmi to my stereo receiver.** A: Thank you for contacting us. Regarding your inquiry, unfortunately, this item would need an HDMI connection on both ends to be able to get an audio connection pass through this inserter. ## Frequently Bought Together - Monoprice 113347 BlackbirdTM 4K Series HDMI Audio Inserter, Black 2.3 x 7 x 9.5 - UVOOI Short HDMI Cable 1 Foot 2-Pack, 4K 1FT HDMI to HDMI Cable High Speed HDMI 2.0 Cord Supports 4K@60Hz, 2K, 1080P, HDCP 2.2, HDR, 3D, ARC & Ethernet - Wireless HDMI Transmitter and Receiver,1080P Full HD Wireless HDMI Extender Kit 820FT with HDMI Loop-Out and Support IR Remote Streaming from PC,Camera,Laptop,Netflix,Ps4/5 to HDTV/Projector/DSLR --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/27695611-monoprice-113347-blackbirdtm-4k-series-hdmi-audio-inserter-black-2](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/27695611-monoprice-113347-blackbirdtm-4k-series-hdmi-audio-inserter-black-2) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-11-08*
