Both are good books, some content varies, some very similar, but my takeaway is a reinforcement of essentials, with refinements in both, The Metal Detecting Bible is more valuable from a timeline perspective of information. I had the Minelab Vanquish 540 recommended to me, and NOW it's my machine. A far newer system than an old Garrett I used for work many years ago, so I felt like I needed some educational assistance to catch up with my new hobby. Review: It has very useful information.

Very good read, especially for someone who is not that knowledgeable about this hobby like me. Great info about types of detectors how they work as well as everything else you need to know. Was a little unsure about purchasing this book as written by an American so was worried it would be very much focused on gold hunting; pleased to say it wasn't ! Recommend to anyone who wants to know the ins and outs of all aspects of this hobby. Very well written in my opinion.
