Awful
Looks nice and has a decent picture…if you can get it to work. The camera couldn’t connect to my super fast wi-fi from a mere 10metres away. Moved it right next to the router and it finally connected but when putting it into the baby’s room, it wouldn’t connect again and kept saying the connection was unstable. Absolutely awful. I Shouldn’t have to change any internet/server settings for a simple baby cam to work either so won’t be going to that hassle (plenty of reviews before me have gone down that fruitless rabbit hole it seems). To make things worse, the cam hasn’t worked properly since. It turns itself on and off at will, doesn’t connect to my wifi and even resets settings I have made on the app (eg no motion sensing just baby crying sensing). Awful awful awful. Straight in the bin. I’m just glad it was on sale so I didn’t waste too much money on it. Would have given 0 stars if I could! Developers should be ashamed to release such faulty, useless tech.

Absolute junk
Great price for a ONVIF camera, but it randomly and consistently disconnects (still showing green LED indicating it is connected), so it is useless as a security device. The frame rate is terrible at 15fps, and the resolution is poor. Also, you can't zoom (I didn't realise a manufacturer would bother doing Pan and Tilt without Zoom). Perhaps it is because it is because the resolution is so bad. NB The disconnection help suggests changing the DNS on your router, which can't be done on virgin hub. I am unconvinced this will help, as switching off/on will generally reconnect. For whatever reason this thing disconnects, it simply appears that the recovery is flawed. Very disappointed. (I had the first unit replaced by Amazon because of the fault, I am not sure if I can be bothered trying to get my money back now. Completely unethical producing non-sustainable junk which will get thrown away.) **EDIT** I replaced with a little more expensive Reolink, which hasn't lost connection once, and has better video quality.

USELESS
The camera itself is ok and for the first day, the motion detection push alerts worked, but that was short lived. No matter what I do, I cannot get the push alert notifications to work again. This makes the camera utterly useless as a security tool which is a shame really, as it looks quite good. After researching on the internet, it seems that this is a very common problem with Tapo devices and I wish I had read the other reviews in more detail. I suppose you get what you pay for. The alarm siren on the device is also pathetic - I think it would only deter intruders by causing them to collapse in fits of laughter thereby rendering them distracted until the police arrived! All in all, a good idea but rubbish support and no good for intended purpose.. Thank goodness Amazon have such a great return policy.

Not a smart camera
This camera puts a lot of basic features you’d find in cheaper cameras behind a paid service. I’ve previously had a Neos Smartcam that worked much better than this, I only changed due to lack of google home compatibility so, my main draw to this one was google home integration, which it does in its most minimal form. It connects to google home but you can’t automate anything about it, it’s just there. It might be ok in a setting where it can be constantly on but I can’t even automate it turning on privacy mode. It is not worth even getting it at discounted prices if you’re after an actually smart camera that integrates with the services it advertises. Sound quality is pretty terrible but video quality when there isn’t much movement, delay is about 1second between things happening and being seen on the camera, That’s inside the house on the same WiFi. I’ll be avoiding Tapo devices in future after this experience

Constant issues since I bought it.
I have had non stop issues with this camera and app since I purchased, but after talking to Tapo’s support team and going back and forth, trying to put the blame on me or my WiFi (which are fine through every single troubleshooting method) I am now out of my return window. The app is terrible, the live view freezes all the time, I constantly get an “error” message or “network unstable” message when trying to change any settings or view playback. I have gone into my routers IP address and changed it to a 2.4 GHz with all the recommendations they suggested, with no difference. They wanted me to use my hotspot to troubleshoot it, again no changes. They constantly try and say it a router and WiFi issue, when I have consistent WiFi connection. I am at my wits end. This is supposed to provide comfort and safety, yet all it has done is cause me stress. I would love a refund and to just throw this camera in the bin, and go with another brand.

DO NOT BUY
So I had just purchased x2 Dots and wanted to hook up the lighting and security into it. Also a Tipo cctv camera.. At first all seemed good. Everything paired up to my WiFi and Alexa. "Alexa lounge light blue' everything was working great for the first week. Then I had to reboot my router. The entire light and camera system failed to work after that. I tried to factory reset the camera and each bulb as instructed by Tipo. The camera would not pair back up to the wifi. Some bulbs would reset, but then not pair back up, some bulbs where just stuck power on, Some wouldn't switch on at all. I am very tech savvy and feel I know my stuff. But after 3 hours of messing about, I boxed everything up and returned. Just trying some other brands now to see what will work best. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND EFFORT ON THESE.

Does the job.
As I'm bedridden, I use two of these to keep an eye on what's going on around me. I've got Tapo smart plugs already and found the camera pretty straightforward to add to the network. Picture quality is good enough to identify what's on the kitchen shelves about 10 feet from the camera. The night vision is also good. Motion detection works well and there's a handy audible alarm. You can move the view round using an app on both mobiles and tablets. It's also possible enlarge portions of the pictures using the two finger pinch and zoom technique. The audio quality is adequate to hear conversation but sounds a bit muffled to me. Audio feedback is a bit of a nuisance to me as the cameras are within 10 feet of where I use my devices to monitor the action, so producing loud clicks and the whistles I've found the record and playback functions both easy to use and useful. I'm happy with my purchase and think you get a fair amount of functionality for the price.
