Fit our LJ perfect. Love the look and was extremely easy to install it you have help to remove and mount the spare. We have a 35x14.50x20 hanging on it now.

I installed an oversized wheel and tire on my tailgate and had a lot of rattling issues. This bracket solved all my problems and took probably a half hour to install. I highly recommend this product!

This is based on my experience only. The install was super easy. Mopar’ s instructions were simple and came with pictures. Very nice! It does appear to add support to already hinges that remain in place. Pros: It’s OEM and Mopar made it simple to install (I installed it with the Mopar tire mount for larger wheels & tires) Cons: The torque settings seem a bit over the top for the Allen Hex Head Bolts. The cardboards shims are too weak. (Recommend using paint stirring sticks see below) After I installed it, I had to go back and raise it with paint stirrer sticks under the gate to accommodate my 110-lb spare. (I’m running 18X10 Fuel Trophy wheels and Geolander 35s AT with a combined weight of 110-115) The write up and the descriptions indicate this will support such tire weight. In my case, I had it readjust the bracket afterwards. Not a big deal. Mopar includes cardboard shims. All in all, It works for now. Time will tell if it will stand up. The only other option is go with a hinge replacement setup like EVO has or, go with a bumper mount spare tire mount.

Even though the new Wrangler JL tailgate is 1/4" magnesium and very strong it is recommended by Jeep if carrying a larger tire weighing more than 85#. You may get away without it bit why chance it? I did add a piece of PVC pipe and chair leg foot to the rubber bumper to fill in the gap created by the offset of the new wheels. Good product and a good price on Amazon.
