I love music, but have never been a musicals person. I saw this show in Las Vegas at the Venetian with some friends and i am so glad that i did. The show is a truly wonderful experience, and i recommend everyone to go see it. That being said the CD of the Original Broadway Cast is just as good. I believe that the cast is faithful to the source but think they let their own talents, and skills shine as well. The songs are brisk, and catchy just as they were when we all listened to them back in 1987. The additional dialogue added into them guides the listener through the trials and tribulations of our leading man and leading lady Drew, and Sherri as they discover love amongst the neon of Sunset Strip. I absolutely love this CD and there is a bit of a bonus at the end which i enjoyed immensely so let the CD run on the last track. Hope it was helpful. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mamma Mia + Hair Metal = SWEET! *by C***G on Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2009* I didn't get to see this when I was in NY recently (I went with Phantom and Mamma Mia instead) but the concept intrigued me so much I decided to order the CD.Basically what they did was take the Mamma Mia formula (which consists of taking well known songs and coming up with a story that ties them all together) but in this case they used songs from the MTV generation (Poison, Journey, Pat Benatar and a whole slew of other acts which were popular in the 80's)After listening to the soundtrack a few times, I came to the following conclusions:1) All that music we grew up listening to in the 80's... STILL ROCKS!!!2) I now have to see this show... 'cus from what I can tell from this cd, it completely and utterly kicks ass!!!DISCLAIMER - Uh,I mean it kicks as in a Broadway musical/Hair Metal kind of way, of course...if you were expecting Metallica or Accept songs you WILL be disappointed.But if you enjoy these jukebox musicals AND this kind of music, then are you in for a treat.Enjoy!P.S. If by the end of the cd you feel you have NOT been rocked hard enough,then keep listening...Enough said. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome SOUNDTRACK, not 80's Compilation *by S***N on Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2010* I put soundtrack in capital letters because most of the negative reviewers here were under the impression this would be an awesome 80's rock compilation. These songs are from a Broadway show and are sung and cut the same way they are in the show. I listened to this CD before I saw the show and I thought it was ok, some real good sounds, but some songs were cut off too early or weren't very rockin'. After seeing the show my opinion of this CD skyrocketed. Now when I listen I don't hear covers of 80's rock songs, I hear the play, and it's awesome.They added a lot of production to this CD, changing lines from the play to fit an album, instead of a show, creating even more laughs. The songs bring back memories of the situations in the show and make the songs rock that much harder. And for a treat, don't turn off the CD after the last song finishes, hang out for a bit for a bit more rocking out hidden in the last track.
