The stones have a silver backing on them - not clear, not see through - disappointed.

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this package. First of all, it arrived in a nice, elegant purple box. And the pendant itself, while smaller than I expected, is as described and very pretty. I think the size is perfect, actually, as the pendant makes a statement but not too bold a statement. I appreciate the fact that both the chain and pendant are made of sterling silver, and that the stones are Swarovski crystal. Note that the product specifications say “silver plated base"; I confirmed with the seller that it is not plated: "Due to we listed the items under fashion jewelry category, there's no option in the product specifications column for sterling silver, but it's mandatory to fill in one."The two blue stones are a very pretty, deep sky blue color set in bright sterling silver, and the setting is feminine too. The gourd shape design is supposed to symbolize good luck and to ward off evil – sounds good to me. The blue color is deeper in reality than it looks in my photos, by the way.The chain is feminine, sparkly and delicate–better than I expected as sometimes you just get a plain chain when you purchase a pendant. Note: the chain I received is not the box chain you see in the listing’s first picture, but the one in the 6th picture, which they refer to as a “water wave chain” – I prefer this chain. The weave of it makes it really sparkle. As it is delicate, I would suggest being gentle with this chain and storing it clasped so it doesn’t tangle. The chain measures exactly 18” exclusive of the clasp and is not resizable.This is a necklace that I will wear often. It would go well with almost any outfit, actually – eye catching and elegant but subtle enough not to be over the top. A white shirt would be perfect. The 18” length would look nice with a vee neck.If you were to give this as a gift, I might replace the somewhat in-elegant foam padding that it comes attached to with something more presentable, or just wrap the foam with tissue and re-attach the necklace.I would order from this company again and maybe even order this necklace again as a gift. They offer a 30 day warranty but I think you’ll find that you want to keep it.

It's delicate in it's design and just the right size pendant for the perfect amount of sparkle on the neckline. The chain is 18" L and is sparkly and lovely. This chain has a hallmark on the chain and the back of the pendant of .925 for sterling silver. Because it's fine silver it can be passed down from generation to generation. I plan on wearing this beautiful pendant often and consider it a good value worth every penny of the asking price.
