The official case has the problem of adding a few millimetres on the left hand side where it magnetically attaches to the device. This case does not have that problem, meaning the overall size of the tablet is reduced with the case attached. It also has the added benefit of being a display stand that can tilt. The material is good quality and it feels sturdy enough to provide protection in case it gets dropped. Unlike the premium case, this one provides protection all around the sides. The only potential ‘problem’ I can find with this case is that the magnetic pen does not attach so firmly to the side with this case on, but it does have a little pocket on the back to safely slot the pen — so not really a problem! Getting the negatives out of the way, it's slimline enough for what it is, but was surprisingly heavy, although that doesn't cause much of an issue. I'm not sure either if I trust the pen holder to not give up, it seems quite flimsy. I'm yet to see evidence of something a few users have complained about, which is any staining to the pen. What is impressive, having gone for the brown, leather-feel one is that it looks very professional. If I was rocking up for a meeting, I'd certainly rather sit down and open this up like a book than rummage around in the ReMarkable case. ReMarkable are out of order with their pricing.
