Isnt the fruiting body of the mushroom more potent and higher quality than a mycelium based prduct?

I used Host Defense Mushrooms for 14 months with my dog with hemangiosarcoma cancer (for which it is rare to live 6 months after diagnosis. I belonged to several hemangiosarcoma support groups. What I found was that there are very strong opinions on each side (fruit body versus myclium), as each company that produces mushroom powders and capsules claims that their method is the best. And they state their beliefs as facts. I chose HD brand, as I had received referrals from humans using HD products who had received referrals from their doctors. In addition Paul Stammets is a very well respected mushroom researcher of over 40 years. So I believe, based on a lot of reading, that the mycelium is best (and I express this as an opinion, unlike the prior poster, as I am not a researcher myself). My dog, lived an extraordinary long time with her cancer, however, I can not say the reason for sure as there could be many variables, but I am sure the HD mushrooms played their part. I recommend digging deeply into the Host Defense website FAQs for more information and actual research.

This particualr one does say organic on it and do the ones I get in the health food store. Is this one Organic?

These are Organic and it was more capsules for the money than the ones we get at local health food stores.

Would you get the same benefits from this supplement as an AHCC supplement?

This product does contain AHCC but it is not an AHCC extract like many other AHCC supplements. Stamets claims that the combined components of the mushroom are more beneficial than the isolated compounds. This may not be a scientifically proven statement. I am unclear on dosage comparison for the same amount of AHCC but it is likely that you would have to consume more of this product than an AHCC extract to get the same AHCC content. The Host Defense Mushroom website states... "Do your products contain Beta Glucans, PSK, PSP, D-Fraction, or AHCC, and if so, how much? These are some of the most well-known constituents studied in mushroom mycelium and fruitbodies, however they are only some of the many valuable compounds that can help support and maintain health. We believe all of the nutrients and myriad compounds within the entire organism are beneficial to the immune system, and necessary for a whole foods approach to health. A chief goal with our products is to keep the mushroom's natural chemical architectures intact. Therefore, we don't isolate any specific compounds or concentrate them. While our products do contain these compounds, as a supplement company, we focus our testing on Identity, Composition, Purity and Strength rather than nutritional, mineral or other analyses. We can guarantee our capsules contain greater than 55% polysaccharides."

Hi What is the difference between this one and the Stamets 7?

They both do very similar things for the immune system, but MyCommunity has more mushroom varieties.

I have been taking two pills a day for maybe a month and then one pill a day for maybe a week (two pills made me so sleepy all the time that I could not function well) but just a couple days ago on the one pill a day I finally started having noticabley more energy and waking up earlier and actually am exercising and cleaning and just feeling a lot better then before. I am very pleased. The doctor I know said she and her husband have been taking one pill a day of stamets 7 and have not been sick in like four years so I am taking on her advice
