Pristine physical condition after thorough testing.
I'm always skeptical buying renewed enterprise drives, but this 14TB WD Ultrastar DC HC530 exceeded expectations. Like many refurbished enterprise units, the S.M.A.R.T. health logs were completely wiped back to 0 hours / 1 power cycle by the seller, so I put it through a 36-hour full surface read scan using StableBit Scanner. The drive passed with flying colors. The full surface scan completed with 100% green blocks and zero bad sectors. After the heavy load, the critical S.M.A.R.T. health attributes remained absolutely flawless: Reallocated Sectors (05), Pending Sectors (C5), and Uncorrectable Sectors (C6) all sit firmly at zero. The Helium Level (16) is at a 100%, indicating the internal gas seal is entirely intact. Thermals are also great, hovering around a cool 36ยฐC in my external enclosure under load. This seller did an excellent job and the drive is in pristine physical condition. Buy with confidenceโjust be sure to run a full surface scan upon arrival to verify your drive is also good to go. I'll keep an eye on the drive and update if anything comes up. I'll also be buying a few more based on this one's excellent condition.

Robust Storage with a Few Caveats
I've been using the HGST WD Ultrastar DC HC530 14TB Data Center HDD (Renewed) for a few months now, and here's my honest take on it. Pros: Massive Storage: With 14TB of space, this drive can handle an impressive amount of data. Whether you're running a data center or just need a ton of personal storage, this HDD has got you covered. Performance: The 6Gb/s SATA interface provides solid data transfer speeds. I've noticed that large file transfers and backups are relatively quick, which is crucial for my needs. Reliability: Despite being a renewed product, it has been running smoothly without any hiccups. The HGST brand has a good reputation for durability and reliability, and this drive lives up to that standard. Cons: Noise Level: This HDD is a bit noisier than I'd like. During heavy read/write operations, there's a noticeable hum. It's not a deal-breaker, but if you're sensitive to noise, it might be something to consider. Heat Generation: It does run a bit warm. I've had to ensure proper ventilation in my setup to avoid overheating issues. Investing in a good cooling system might be a good idea if you plan to use this drive extensively. Renewed Product: While mine has been working fine, there's always a bit of a gamble with renewed products. Make sure to check the seller's return policy just in case. Overall, the HGST WD Ultrastar DC HC530 14TB HDD offers excellent value for its storage capacity and performance. It's especially great if you're on a budget and need a high-capacity solution. Just keep in mind the potential for noise and heat, and you should be good to go!

Died almost one year from purchase
This used to be a good deal one year ago, which is why i bought 3. I used 2 in my 5 BAY Synology giving me one spare, which I just used up this weekend. HGST usually most reliable drives, in 6tb and 8tb models anyway. I've been a long time HGST supporter and maybe this was just a fluke but I worry that one or both of the others might go at any time. This seller only gives you 90 days warranty, not enough time to know if it will kick the bucket! I will now only buy from a seller that gives 1-2 years at least to get money's worth from a used drive. Too expensive now to be wasting my extras

Hear me out
I purchased this drive in December 2025, it died in August 2026. Working with their support team they got me a replacement drive very quickly and I had no downtime as this was part of a mirror set. Both the old and the new drive performed great. Thank you for having a 5-year warranty! Will buy from DBSKY again.

Beware, 3.3V on Pin 3 resets this Data Center HDD
I just spent 8 hours trying to figure out why the drive worked when attached through a SATA->USB interface, but when directly connected through SATA, the drive would never finish being identified and enumerated by either Windows11 or Linux. I kept seeing errors in my Linux logs about "Security Freeze Lock" on this drive and thought the error was about Secure Erase, a part of ATA-Security standards. This was a rabbit hole, a red herring. The real culprit is the "reset with 3.3V on pin 3" on data center drives. Consumer PSUs generally enable all the voltages through their SATA power connector. So this drive was constantly told to reset. That is why the drive would not successfully even enumerate, even though it was recognized by the kernel. CAUTION: While the mod is simple, the is not perfectly safe. If you search for a video by "Byte My Bits" about disabling the 3.3V pin, you can see how to prevent the 3.3V signal using simple electrical tape to cover pins 2 & 3 on the SATA power connector on the drive side. Use CAUTION. For the drive itself, the drive is amazingly quiet when seeking. Only when I was doing an extended test through S.M.A.R.T. did the drive make some weird noises. After passing the extended test and the short test with no errors, the drive has been very quiet and has very little vibration. Speeds are what you expect from a normal mechanical hard drive. The one thing that worries me is that S.M.A.R.T. shows this drive as having over 43,600 hours (!!!) of service. This is supposed to be "renewed", which I take as meaning it was serviced and rebuilt. Since this drive is for temporary bulk storage, it is fine for me.

Hecka of a deal.
I have been archiving old Mac computer hard drives, and storing music and other media along with applications and my art. I have most of these items backed up to Cloud drives and other hard drives. But for the price for the Terrabites, this was a deal too good to be passed up. I am able to shuffle files around, organize and sort files. Even sort out duplicates and way old, useless files. Came packed well, bare bones, came with only with drive, that's it, no extra hardware EXCEPT instructions and a cable (and even the tape) to make the drive usable with certain systems. No worries, instructions are clear via text and images. And is as easy as taking a small piece of provided tape, placing it over a few of the pins. Again, a piece of cake. After doing that initialized it for Macs, slipped it into an external enclosure and, I was shuffling bits and bytes all over the place. It is very quiet, pretty. Darn quick, with bunches and bunches of small files, or a many rather large GB files and folders full of hundreds and thousands of smaller files. Sorry not that into running speed tests. Just in my daily usage, happy with the speed. One negative so far is heat. Not smoking hot, but hot, not warm to the touch. Now that is after a few days of sling many, many files, backing up, optimizing, and syncing files and folders. Super happy with the purchase. Great secondary back-up drive.

Large capacity for a good price
I bought 4 of these for a 4 bay Synology NAS. One is in constant use for surveillance recording, two are in raid 1 configuration for a share drive, and one is used as a cold spare/backup. Maybe one day I'll add it to the share drive array to expand from 14 tb to 28, or maybe one of my drives will fail and I can swap it in. So far I haven't had any issues in the past 1-2 months. The price is great and the drives reported low hours when I first put them into the NAS. If you can afford it I'd recommend picking up a spare drive if you have the same use case, so if a drive fails you can put an identical drive in your raid array. I was able to buy more drives for peace of mind due to the low price of these refurbished drives. I am happy with my decision. As far as noise goes, I can hardly hear the sound of these drives spinning. The noise that I can hear is the sound of the disk heads moving. These are quieter than I expected especially with 4 drives running. In a dead silent room, you could hear the sound from anywhere if you're listening for it, but overall I am not bothered by the sound, I think they're quieter than the single 2tb WD black I have in my PC that I built in 2015.

I was sent a new drive with 0 power on hours
I ordered this drive on 7/14/2026. It arrive on 7/16/2026. Inside the box was the drive. The power cable adapter for older power supplies that don't have the 4 cable SATA power plug. And a 5 year warranty card. The drive was in an anti static bag that was still factory sealed. The manufacture date on the drive is September 2025. I plugged in the drive and ran SeaTools on it to see how many power on hours it had. To my surprise it has 0 power on hours. I was sent a new drive that has never been used.
