When I did these measurements for my wife, I was very unsure as it recommended a size that seemed too small, but it turned out too be perfect (it needs to be tight enough to do its vein compressing job). It looks and feels like a thick elasticated stocking material, so probably a nylon mix or something similar. **Q: Can you wear ankle socks with these stockings ?** A: Yes you can wear ankle socks with the compression socks. I do when I wear them to work.
