Basic remote with no bells and whistles but excellent replacement for lost original remote.

Do not expect a lot
LMAO. I did not know a replacement remote for the Roku 1 was available and I have literally been suffering with the original remote for over a year. At first i had to bang it on the palm of my hand to get it to work. As things deteriorated I had to remove the battery cover and roll the batteries in the case while simultaneously applying hand cramping pressure. The response time to commands was up 10 seconds, and inconsistent. I need my old 50 pound standard def TV so the roku 1, to my knowledge, is my only option. I am happy to have it. But it aint easy. So this replacement remote came today. I have only used it now. Compared to the original remote I am happy to say I have not had to remove the battery cover to get it to work. The response time to commands is faster but still slow and inconsistent on some sites. It responds to maybe 80%. It takes several seconds to follow a command. Faster than the old one, but still at times painfully slow. The 1970's cable TV systems were faster to change channels compared to this roku/replacement remote. So generally I'd say using this roku 1 system went from torturous to aggravating using this replacement remote. Better, thank you. Still a chore and I dont think i could see todays tech savvy immediate gratification generation using it. I cancelled Sling because it was to hard to use with this system. Just too slow. (It was not the only reason I cancelled). It worked a bit better with youtube. I haven't tried it with amazon or netflix yet. so things got better. it aint greatTWO DAYS LATER - upgraded my review to three stars. Have been using it with Amazon prime this eve and its not bad. Expect slower response than if you had HDTV and the bells and whistles of todays lightening speed digital technology. But it is OK with prime, and netflix last night was ok too. Tried Sling again today (my subscription ends in a couple of days) and I'd rather bang my head against a wall than try again. Also, too ridiculous for words, I did not have good luck trying to watch the Roku Free TV channel. Terrible terrible, another head banger site. I won't be trying to watch that again. Roku......you cant even connect with your own site!! Youtube is the slowest compared to amazon prime and netflix but i can deal with it. Its still better than the original and significantly better to use on amazon and netflix sites. I dont really stream any other sites so I cannot mention any other. I won't pay to watch and i won't stream other 'free' sites because of the commercials. Five minute commercials I why I cut the cord years ago.SECOND AND LAST UPDATE: Terrible time with youtube. last night and today i tried viewing from my history and subscribed channels but was unable. Every time I scroll to the right the system goes to the roku home page instead of the video i want to see. Several times it magically went from youtube to the roku home page without me even touching the remote! So now you know all the possibilities
