Works great, real brass

Weller Soldering Brass Tip Cleaner I do quite a bit of soldering, I like to build kits and normally use a damp sponge to clean the tip of my soldering iron. The other day I decided to see how one of the brass “sponges” would work. I chose the Weller because I’ve used their products literally for decades and always been happy with them. The “sponge” is smaller than I expected and I have to be careful not to knock it over, but it does work very well. Putting the tip of the iron in the “sponge” and giving it a few good turns does a much better job of keeping the tip clean than the traditional damp sponge ever did. The time it saves is well worth its price. I’ve only been using it for a few days, but I’m already sold on using it.

It works a lot better than a sponge. I never knew I needed one of these until after I bought it. Keeps the tips nice and clean.

A must have. Cleaned the soldering iron super well. Easy to use with one hand and doesn't slide around. Has nice weighted bottom for balance. The brass is really brass, and it is very dense.

This is a decent brass tip cleaner. The base is sturdy enough to sit on the bench without falling over, but the walls are not reinforced. The silicone looks smart and seems to withstand prods from the iron. You're paying for the Weller tag, of course. The price almost doubled in December 2024 and I'm not sure it's worth what they're charging now. It's a thin metal base, a silicone sock and a brass sponge. I'd suggest looking out for a sale.

My old Weller had a sponge in the base, so that's what I used for decades. When that iron eventually died, I decided to try this contraption out, and I have to say, I like it much better than the sponge. Combining the two is nice, too, but you really don't even need a wet sponge with this thing.

This thing is a life-changer! I was even able to partially revive an old iron with it. To think for many years I was just using the sponge... what a waste! Now my new pinecil will be maintained much better than anything I've ever had in the past. If there was any kind of suggestion it would be to increase the mass on the bottom even more, the thing did move around a lot until I decided to drill it into a block of wood as shown in the picture. The bottom has like a 1/16" metal plate, and the surround is like a flexible rubberish material. When I pulled out the wad of gold strings it actually contained more than I thought it would, and it is stuffed to the brim in there with that material. Overall pleased.

Würde ich jederzeit wieder kaufen!

Je cherchais ce genre d'outil pour nettoyer les petites pannes lorsque je soude des fils électriques en cuivre. Inévitablement, au cours des travaux, la panne se charge d'un excès de soudure. Un va-et-vient en tournant dans la masse métallique (à chaud) nettoie bien les pointes, même fines.

I should have got this product way sooner. It cleans the tip of the soldering iron like a charm! It is a solid product. Highly recommended!

Calidad Weller original, sin queja alguna.

I’ve only just started soldering, so I wouldn’t say I’m an authority on the subject, but I found using a damp sponge difficult to keep the tip clean of my soldering iron. So I decided to buy this and it is so much better. I can see the difference after scrubbing in this brass wool ball, and because it’s from Weller then you know it’s definitely brass so it won’t damage your tips. I’ll certainly be buying more of these as this one wear out after use.
