## Description

The kit includes the 60W cutter, one “R” blade, cleaning brush and hex wrench.Cuts Most Types of Synthetic Fabric and RopesThe RoMech Fabric Hot Knife is the perfect tool for cutting synthetic fabrics, webbing, rope, sailcloth and many other materials that would ravel when cut with conventional scissors. No-Mess Cutting Solution The RoMech Thermal Cutter cuts cleanly and smoothly. As the heat reacts with the fabric, it cuts without leaving the dust and debris common when using a conventional knife. With no dust or polystyrene filings left behind, cleaning up is easy. Designed for commercial and industrial use. How to use the RoMech Thermal Cutter The cutter is designed for use on Synthetic Fabrics and Ropes, including: canvas, synthetic fabric, cloth, rope and cord. This is a hot knife system, with a blade that can be as hot as 932° F(500C). It's therefore critical that you read and fully understand the operating instructions before using the cutter.

Review: Works great - I bought the ROMECH 60W Fabric Cutter Rope Cutter mainly for cutting synthetic rope and kite materials, and it’s been a solid tool overall. It heats up quickly, cuts clean through rope without fraying, and definitely saves time compared to doing it by hand. I’ve also used it on webbing and fabric for kite repairs and custom projects. The handle feels comfortable, and once it’s hot, it glides through material pretty easily. Just make sure you work in a ventilated area because melted synthetic material can create some smoke. The included blades are decent, but having extras on hand is a good idea if you use it often. If you work with rope, fabric, banners, kites, or synthetic materials regularly, it’s a worthwhile tool to have in the shop.
Review: Super convenient, easy to use, case fits the tool with tip attached! - I didn't even know this tool existed. I got some inexpensive satin with the idea that I was going to make a bunch of jumbo scrunchies with it. I made a couple and the satin was fraying like crazy as I was making them. I ended up using my overlock machine where I could and otherwise using a bunch of fray check on the edges, but I figured there had to be a better solution. I googled to see if there was some kind of cutter that used heat and found this. This changed my life. LOL I made another batch of scrunchies (9 of them) yesterday using this hot knife, and I am in love with this tool. It heats up super fast. You push the trigger, wait just a couple of seconds, and then drag it across your fabric, moving at a reasonable speed, and it just melts through and seals the edges perfectly. Release the trigger when you're done and it automatically shuts off the heat. You can free-hand your cuts if you want, but I was using one of those triangular aluminum rulers as a straightedge and it worked perfectly. You do have to be careful to cut one layer at a time, or it will seal the edges of the layers together, but that's totally manageable. You also have to be careful about your work surface. My table is granite so I just cut directly on it and it worked great. If you have a flammable/scorchable table, use some sort of non-flammable mat on top (tempered glass, metal, whatever). When I saw the manual said to only use it for 15 seconds at a time, I didn't understand this trigger mechanism and thought I'd have to turn the whole thing on and off every 15 seconds, or unplug it in between. They're just saying to let it rest in between trigger presses after 15 seconds, which is totally reasonable. I can't imagine how large my table would have to be to get 15 nonstop seconds of cutting in, anyway. Lots of the reviews mentioned annoyance that the case was too small to fit the tool with the cutting attachment installed. Well, the manufacturer must have listened to the reviews, because the case on the one I received is big enough to hold the tool with the attachment. This also came with a cheapie little fold-out metal stand that looked super weak to me, but it actually held up the tool very nicely. If your plan is just to rest the tool on its side, let me tell you that it flops over and the hot cutting blade of the knife will flop onto your work surface. So if you want it to stay off your surface, you'll want to use that stand. I think the stand is really convenient and it made it easier to grab the knife and get rolling. I bought the cheapest version of this knife, and I'm so glad I did. I was really on the fence about getting the 100w version or the air-cooled version. I wasn't sure if the 100w was necessary to get quick heating and cutting (it isn't for my usage). This heated up so fast that there was zero waiting-around time. I was also thinking that the air-cooled version might be helpful because then I wouldn't be limited to the 15-second run time. As I mentioned above, I idiotically thought the 15 seconds meant I'd have to turn off the whole tool or unplug it for every 15 seconds of cutting. With the trigger mechanism, it's super easy to click it on, make your cut, and then releasing the trigger automatically does the cool down in between cuts. I can't imagine needing even the full 15 seconds of straight trigger pulling, so the air cooled version would have been totally wasted on me.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do you need to buy a special heat proof surface on which to cut with the heat knife? If so, which one?**
A: I just cut nylon line and didn't require a special surface. You just must be careful putting it down for the few seconds it takes to cool after you release the trigger.

**Q: can htis be used to cut vinyl coated fabric such as Stamoid Top or Shelter-rite?**
A: The blade on this cutter gets red hot. More than likely, your vinyl coated fabric can be cut easily. Just be careful you don't lag in one spot too long or you'll have a melted vinyl blob

**Q: Will this cut spray foam?**
A: I think it would cut it with no problem! We cut regular foam and it worked so fast and easily! You’ll want to try cutting a small bit of spray foam first to see how fast/slow you need to move the cutter. It basically melts the item.

**Q: Will it cut through plaskolite**
A: It'll melt it, not the ideal tool for the job. They make cutters specific for plaskolite.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This works fast
*by B***Y on 1 January 2024*

This is the first time I've used a hot knife and I am very impressed with this one. It works quick and easy. It got hot fast and cut through the line with very little pressure. The line was whipped beforehand because I didn't have a good feel for how well it work work. For using it to cut a 1/2 line 3 times it worked great. It seems well built and should have a long life.
