Wish I had this book sooner!
I'm not sure how many text books get 5 stars, but this one earns it. Not only does the book take the time to slowly move from the most basic of visual perception concepts, it does it in a way that easily understandable and doesn't assume much prior knowledge. That isn't to say that more advanced optometry students will be bored, but there is some redundancy, particularly if you've already taken ocular anatomy/physiology.The text reads like a story, explaining an experiment, the goals of it, what was gleamed from it and how it can be applied to the optometric experience. For a potentially complicated subject, the text does spell it out very clearly.I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone with an interest in visual perception, and I wish I had read it prior to even coming to optometry school. With that said, I have read the text cover to cover, and didn't dread a moment of it.

A breath of fresh air.
For my purposes, this book really fits the bill. It brings Bartley's text, Vision: A Study of Its Basis, up-to-date and puts contemporary issues in an exposition that is readable and cogent. The manner in which the text is laid out is attractive to the reader and the illustrations are very helpful. Difficult material is treated in facile manner. The questions posed and the anwers given are of assistance in the understanding of the material.

You so gotta study this if you have anything to do with PreOptometry or Optometric National Boards. It is classic.

Great textbook. It is very readable, but requires a technical background.
Great textbook. It is very readable, but requires a technical background, which I do not have. There was a LOT of content I am not competent to understand. Much of it is still usable, however.
