Fast, simple, with great results
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Great tool that's fairly easy to use. Takes away the challenge of using the typical axel grooves. Simply align, clamp securely and drill. Cars ran straight and I was able to drill and secure axels into wood block cut down to about ¼" or less.

Great tool for drilling axle holes in a pinewood derby car
This too works great for drilling holes to insert the axles for a pinewood derby car. It comes with the frame to attach to the car and the drill bit that fits the holes perfectly. The tool has matching holes on each side so you know the axles are aligned. You have a choice of angled holes (2.5 degrees ) for the rear wheels and straight alignment for the front (and rear if you want them straight. There is also a hole to elevate one wheel if you want to have your car run on 3 wheels instead of 4. It's easy to use and comes with instructions. I do wish the instructions mentioned the angled wheels are for the rear. I had to research that point. The tool has everything you need and works great!

Makes Building Easier and Faster
This driller tool is fantastic! It makes creating straight axle holes, angled holes, and raised wheel holes so much easier. Saves a lot of time and really helps make my derby cars faster. Very well-made and easy to use. Highly recommend for any Pinewood Derby builder!

Works perfectly - usable year after year
Another mechanical engineer reviewer here. This was our first time building a pinewood derby car and we chose to use this jig versus the factory axle slots to get a longer wheel base and better placement of axles. This precision machined jig is perfect for drilling axle holes whether you want straight, raised or canted. The supplied drill bit is fine. Plenty sharp to cut through the soft pine wood car body. As another reviewer stated, slowly guide the bit in the desired hole before starting the drill to prevent the bit catching the aluminum. We held the drill still and pushed the car and jig into the spinning drill bit to make the holes. Felt that had less chance of catching the aluminum block with the bit. The #44 size drill bit is perfectly matched to the standard BSA nails and allows you to push them into the drilled holes by hand and the holes hold them firmly in place. You should use a separate clamp to hold this jig in place on the wood block but it’s not absolutely necessary. It adds another point of precision to your build using the clamp to ensure the jig doesn’t slip during drilling and moving to the other side. My son’s car took first place overall in his pack and this jig definitely helped in that. He used the straight holes for both rear wheels and one front wheel with bent axles, and the raised hole with a straight axle in the other front wheel. Great investment for future pinewood derby builds.

Good, but not Perfect
This tool is pretty good, but if you don't want to drill holes in exactly the stock locations it's nearly useless. It would be better if there was more space in the bottom, and then I could use shims to choose exactly how high up on the car to drill the holes. I can do that, to a point, if I use the raised wheel hole, but that doesn't help with the canted wheel holes.

It’s cool to be straight.
Bought this after a last place finish. My car was clearly not running down the track straight even though I tried (somewhat) to put the axles in straight. This tool makes it easy to drill straight holes, raised hole, or angled holes. I found it easiest to use a clamp when drilling as the side screws did not get tight enough which caused the jig to wiggle a bit. After drilling the holes and installing the axle I tested straightness. With a minor tweak my car is now riding a nearly straight line for more than 6 feet down my test board. I really recommend this simple and effective tool.
