It is not required for that monitor. The HX arm itself was designed to hold the 49" without issue. This additional piece is only required for the Samsung g9 and neo g9 which have a stronger curve which changes the leverage on the hinge. I have had the HX arm on multiple 49" monitors without issue. I only upgraded with this piece when I moved to the G9. **Q: Does it have the same tilt range as the non HD version, it doesn’t seem so?** A: That is correct, the Heavy Duty Tilt Pivot has a reduced tilt range because it is designed to support heavy 1000R curved monitors (screen depth of 6"-12").
