Q: Can the case accomodate a6000 with the Sony 35mm /1.8 lens?

I imagine that it would since the depth of the "front pouch" is 5.5 cm at its shallow point. I use the 16-50 auto zoom and its fits perfectly. However, there is a very good return policy in case that you find it too snug.

Q: Someone mentioned that this would fit an a6000 with the 18-55 lens. Is this true? Would need 4" from back to front with the 18-55.

I purchased this case and it did NOT fit my camera!

The answer is yes, it will fit the Sony A6000 with the 18-55mm lens. If you look at the photo that is shown it appears to be the A6000 with the long lens which was I wanted. Unfortunately what I received was the case for the smaller lens. I kept the case cause it fits well with the 18-55mm lens. I purchased the black case.

Q: Are you able to quickly and easily remove the upper part of the lens case to take a picture? Or does it just drop and dangle in the way when shooting?

The pictures are inaccurate. There are three snaps on the camera base. If you undo the two as shown, the case will hang backwards from the camera out of the way, but also falls off. If you loosen the single snap, the case opens forwards and dangles in front of the lens. This is because the other two snaps are on the base, not on the rear, as used to be how such ever ready cases worked. So, you have to remove it, there is no alternative.
