It's A FLUKE!
As expected, one of the most expensive handheld digital multimeters from FLUKE is a winner! Heavy duty; extremely accurate; stable; easily readable and understandable; just about everything most of us would want in a digital multimeter. BUT!!!! Why does FLUKE ruin it all by including these cheesy, totally SH1ttY TL71 test leads??? You have to fight with them because they are so STIFF! For $450 I'd like to get a set of test leads that are up to the quality of the meter itself. AND, why the hell don't you include a full ENGLISH User Manual? Why do I have to run to my computer to download a PDF that only prints the manual pages on half of an 8-1/2 x 11 piece of paper? Come on, FLUKE, put a package together that lives up to your reputation and price point. I don't mind paying top dollar for a top quality product but I expect it to be complete and USABLE when I open the box! Other than these obviously silly and cheap shortcomings by FLUKE, it's a great multimeter.

Still built with quality
I purchased a Fluke 77 original model back in 1989 after separating from the USAF as a computer technician 305xx That 77 meter has served me well for 40yrs it only needed the LCD replaced as the contrast was to light in that time. Getting back into electronics and radio I decided to upgrade to a unit with capacitance testing ability and settled on this 87v unit and am very happy with the unit and its performance. I still use my old Fluke 77 for troubleshooting too, but am glad to have the new 87v which seems built with the same quality and attention to detail. My days in the USAF taught me the value of having a primary and backup system (duplexed systems).

Top quality Fluke
Had an old Fluke 77 from 1996 that finally bit the dust this year when the case plastic started crumbling apart and all of the screw posts broke. I don't turn wrenches for a living anymore, so this 87V should last me the rest of my life.

Excellent Quality Instrument
When looking for a Multimeter for my motorhome and other around the home projects, I chose Fluke because of the reputation of the company and performance of the instruments. I've got limited knowledge of tracking down electrical problems and such, so wanted to most accurate and reliable meter I could get. This unit doesn't disappoint. I sure I could have gotten by with a cheaper meter if I had more knowledge about how to account for any of the variances of the not-as-accurate readings, but decided true, reliable readings were worth the extra $$ for the Fluke. Got a nice promo gift also (IR Temp probe) through Fluke's rebate program, making a good deal even better. High praise for this meter!

Reliable quality.
Excellent quality meter. Crap quality pvc leads. I wish Fluke would just make everything that comes in the package, awesome instead of making you pay a lot more for it.

Previous 87 owner
As stated, I owned and used one of the original 87's for years. This meter is just as good. The quality has remained and that's why I put down the greenbacks. This type of equipment can't be skimped on for a professional, you can end up dead. If you are into electronics and can get only one good item, this would be it. With a good meter, solid theory, and some experience you can fix a great many things. I don't even like using a 77 model because this meter is that much better.

Great kit for an 87V and AC amperage
I have just the 87V DMM for work along with a Fluke 337A clamp meter. Since I bought this for myself and really don't need DC amp readings, this kit was the best deal for me. The Lo-Pass filter is the main reason I use this unit for work due to phase converters. The 87V might be a little overkill for what I need, but I do tinker with almost everything. While pricing out other units for my personal use, I decided to just spend the money and buy a Fluke. My work unit is calibrated yearly. It was "as found" in calibration when purchased new and has yet to be found out of calibration for the past 5 years. It's made in the USA, I'll bet with some foreign parts though.
