Leather Edge Skiving Beveler Tool,Wide Mouth Leathercraft Trimmer

I have been using these for a couple of months to give an accurate review. I have been very pleasantly surprised at how well these inexpensive french edgers have worked. They arrived reasonably sharp, but I put a razor's edge on them. Now I just strop them with green compound after each use and they have maintained that razor's edge. They glide through every leather I've tried them on, including Crazy Horse oil tanned that my standard edger won't work on at all. I rarely use them on edges, as I use my straight knife for that. But they worked fine for that when I tried them on it. I use them to thin out 7-8 leather down to 4-5 for wallets and notebook covers. It's a bit like mopping the floor with a toothbrush on a large piece of leather, but they give me a clean, even cut so it is still a net gain in time. Best of all, I do not have to replace expensive razor blades with these. Just clean and strop them and put them away. They are well-balanced and easy to hold and work with. Overall, great quality for the price. I would highly recommend this set.

I have to admit I expected very little from these tools- I had purchased a French edger from another brand and it was unusable and so poorly made that I couldn’t even alter it to fix it- I figured if these had enough metal to act as blanks for me to make into decent tools, I’d be happy. So finding them to be not just solid but usable and enjoyable right out of the package?! I am ecstatic! I’m still going to give them a good stropping, but I was shocked at how they just glide through leather. I absolutely recommend this set for anyone itching to get going right a at with minimal investment- make sure you have the gear to maintain them, as all tools require, but these will get you off to a great start.

These slivers are an excellent value. They come fairly sharp, but will want sharpening soon after initial use. They are made of good-quality materials and were delivered on time! These really did good work on a project I was making to help me get a feel for how I would approach skiving in the future. This is an excellent value for the price and I would buy them again.

These are great. They are super sharp and get the job done.

Does what it says. Hard to beat the price! Maybe I’ll get nicer tools once I’m deeper into the craft but for now it fits my needs.

Not sharp out of the box. Had to work hard to get an edge on it, but doesn't keep the edge for even one long cut. Better off paying more for a better beveler.

These work perfectly and for the price you can’t beat it. As long as you take care of the tools and sharpen them I don’t see these having problems. They are strong enough for the work I am doing and feel nice in the hand. I recommend them if you are looking for a more cost effective alternative for sure.
