Superb Wrench SPBW-3 Heavy Duty Metal Water Filter Wrench (4.28 inch Inside Diameter)

When the original plastic wrench cracked, I replaced it with another plastic one. The new one came with a short handle, so it was really hard to get good leverage to open the filter housings. After much frustrations with the plastic one, I decided to look for better options and came across this one. This one is all metal with a rubber handle cover, with very solid build, so I don't expect it to break anytime soon like the plastic ones are prone too. It has a nice long handle, nearly double the length of my old plastic wrench, so you can easily get plenty of leverage. It also has a directional arrow showing which way to pull to open the housing so you don't get confused and tighten instead. I was really struggling with the old wrench, but with this one each housing opened on either the first or second pull.When selecting a wrench, be sure to pay attention to the diameter, number of teeth and positioning of teeth. Not all filter systems have the same size filter housings. This should work on most filter housings that use the standard 10"x2.5" filters.To avoid damage and overtightening, remember to hand-tighten the filter housings after changing the filters and use the wrench only for opening. Using the wrench to close can tighten the housings too much which can cause them to break or crack and leak, or make them impossible to open again.

Too small for my main filter works fine for smaller under the sink filters.

This wrench has changed my life for the better. I always dreaded changing the whole house filters because of how hard it was to open them with the manufacturer-provided flimsy plastic wrench. One day, I got so frustrated that I threw it and broke the plastic wrench which lead me to order this one. And wow! This wrench is 1000x better - the long arm gives you a lot of torque and the soft rubber grip makes it easy to hold. It opened up my R12 OmniFilter housings in seconds. Do yourself a favor and buy one right now!

Wrench was great, got my filter housing loose in seconds with ease.The old cheap plastic wrench wouldn't budge, then snapped. Plastic wrenches never had the leverage to work well. Not a problem anymore.

This thing is built very solid and will last a lifetime. The only thing I ran into is the tabs are a little too big for my 20” filter cover. It only slides up about 1/2” from the bottom. But a quick adjustment with the die grinder and it is a perfect fit. The bar is about a foot long so you have crazy leverage. Just be careful to not over torque when you put it back on. But with a slight grinding modification this wrench will last longer then the casing of the filter. Worth the extra money.

If you hate the junky plastic wrenches, buy this one. Used on an Ispring RO system filters. Much easier....

I broke the wrench that came with the RO System. This wrench worked fantastic! The filter came loose without much effort at all. It provided a perfect amount of torque and the filter came loose almost immediately. VERY HAPPY. RO System was back up and running within 15 minutes of getting my wrench.

This wrench was absolutely perfect, I should have bought it years ago. I’ve been using the plastic one for many years, and removing the filter housing has always been a challenge. This wrench undid the housing on the first attempt without any significant hassle. It’s aluminum so it won’t rust, it’s very rigid, and the handle is much longer than the plastic one allowing for more torque without having to use a pipe to extend the handle length. It was also a much cheaper one because it had a slight scratch in the metal(an insignificant defect considering what the tool is). Best $14 I ever spent.

Purchased this to remove the filters for my parents water filers... This does what we need it to do, fits the filters and makes removing the csrteige much easier.
