Just OK
I bought a pouch to see if it would be a good addition to my long term storage foods. I followed directions on the package. It says to add boiling water (be sure it is really boiling), seal back up and knead the package occasionally. Oh oh. In small red print at the bottom of the package it says to remove the oxygen absorber before adding water. Huh? That statement needs to be right ahead of add boiling water. I had to open, fish around in the package for it then reseal the package. I waited the stated amount of time, kneaded it occasionally but had several hard lumps the size of a big gum ball. Probably because I had to open it to look for the oxygen absorber. The taste was a little blah, but I added more cinnamon, which helped. Maybe add some more raisins or dried cherries.

Tast like incense
I am sorry, but this taste like the smell of the same incense you find in an Indian store. Although I like the smell of incense, I do not want my food to taste like it.

If you like the taste of stevia
Why would anyone put stevia in camping food? I want calories, that's why I carried the extra weight of dessert. If you like the taste of stevia, go for it, because that's all this tastes like.

Quick and easy rice pudding
I love rice pudding but it is such a pain to make. This rice pudding is made right in the bag. You pour boiling water into the pouch and knead the pouch till everything is mixed thoroughly. This needs to be done very well or you will have lumps. Also make sure the water is boiling or it will not cook well enough. The taste is pretty good. Not as sweet as I like it but Stevia is used as the sweetener which makes it a better snack for those on a diet or who are diabetic. I used a little bit of brown sugar to the bag and the taste was closer to homemade. I can see where this would be very handy on a camping trip, or on a kayak trip since the bag is water proof, but I like to keep snacks in the cupboard with a long shelf life that are quick and easy to fix and fill that sweet tooth craving. It also makes an easy ingredient in fancy parfeit cups with layers of jello and cool whip. This easy dessert is suitable for company. I only gave it four stars because it is not as good as homemade but it is close with some added sugar. I was given a promotional discount to review this product.

NOT gluten-free!
It's made with gluten-free ingredients, but run on shared equipment which means it isn't really gluten-free. Not appropriate for celiacs and it shouldn't have the certified gluten-free symbol, as it is misleading. People get sick, sometimes badly sick, over these types of labeling issues. The family members who can have gluten did try it, and said it was ok. They gave it at 4 out of 5 stars. But I HATE misleading packaging and labeling, as for many people, it is a matter of whether they become ill or not after consuming the food. Even celiacs need safe food for camping and emergency preparedness. It would be very nice for companies to take this 10%+ of the population seriously and label their foods correctly.I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. The review above is completely my own personal opinion of this product after receiving it and using it. I only choose to review products that I actually want and that I have a genuine use for so that I can provide thorough and honest feedback on the product.
