Decent Carboy for the Price
After a search from local supply shops and the internet, there isn't a better deal on a 6 gallon/23 litre glass carboy out there. I paid $28.00 thru Amazon Prime and got an Italian made glass carboy in two days. A week later I bought a second one in case the price goes up. These are heavy European glass and take a #7 drilled bung. The only issue is the crossing pattern in the molded glass that catches some of the settling sediment on the sides that would normally not stick in a smooth sidewall carboy. But you know that up front from the picture and once a week I just take both hands and gently spin it back and forth a few inches two or three times and the sediment falls to the bottom. You don't need to lift it up at all while disloging the sidewall crud. For a third the price, those few seconds of trouble are worth it. This is even cheaper than buying a 5 gallon bottle of water to use the plastic jug as a carboy! Very Satisfied.8/2011 Update - Just ordered another one. Since I have been brewing so much wine, I needed another 6 gallon carboy. I started to panic since this deal wasn't available from Amazon for a couple of months. It went to an Amazon seller plus tax that equalled about $60 with shipping. Amazon finally restocked it at $30 + an additional discount with the subscription service. I jumped on it and bought another. It's not quite the quality of the last, but it is Italian and way cheaper than anywhere else. It was a miracle, however, the way it was packed that it arrived unbroken. Best deal out there for the amature.

CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE
I purchased two of these for brewing beer. For the price you cannot beat it. If I can give any advice, get one of these and get one 5 gallon carboy for racking. I bought two of these and my only regret is not getting something smaller as a secondary so that there is less space. But if your planning on doing a lot of dry hopping or adding wood chips, this is a perfect secondary as well as a primary. My one complaint is that I needed to figure out on my own that it uses size 7 bung plugs which nowhere on the box or on the amazon page did I see. But again, that is my one and only complaint. They were shipped in perfect shape and are of great quality.

Best Value for the $
I have been watching this item for months. Was about to buy this summer when the price went up sharply and shipping charges added. Back to watching. Amazon then lowered price to $30 and solicited a sign up for a subscription plan which promised free shipping and a discount from current price. I tried to subscribe but the order form didn't recognize subscription and tried to charge full price. I backed off. On September 21, I ordered two carboys. They arrived via Fedex this morning (Sep 27). Carboys were shipped cardboard box in cardboard box in cardboard box with much packing paper. Both arrived intact. The carboys seem of excellent quality and clear. I expected a greenish tint but seemed clear in strong sunlight. I intend to buy dozens more for winemaking as budget permits.March 21, 2012 comments:I ordered another pair of these 23 Liter carboys about ten days ago. They arrived this AM (March 21, 2012)via USPS. The packaging this time was only box in box with bubble wrap. Both arrived safely. The inner boxes said "made in China" which surprised me. They appear to be suitable for wine making which is all I need. Plan to purchase more when the price and shipping are agreeable.

Buyer Beware: received cracked carboy
Carboy came in minimal packaging with no fragile or glass sticker on the outside. There was a 2 inch crack on the bottom. A bad product when I bought it for $30 but amazon's speedy refund and wonderful customer service earns 5 stars.

I should have known $30 with free shipping was too good to be true.
A friend of mine who is also a homebrewer showed me this amazing deal. $30 for a 6 gallon glass carboy with free shipping. After reading many positive reviews, I went ahead and purchased it. I came home from work one day with the box sitting on my doorstep. As soon as I lifted the package to carry it inside, I heard what sounded like loose change clinging around inside the box. I immediately knew it was smashed; this was confirmed when I opened the box. The bottom half of my carboy was in hundreds of pieces.About the packaging: First of all, the carboy was wrapped in one sheet of the smallest and thinnest bubble wrap produced. It was placed inside a very flimsy cardboard box, which was placed inside a much larger flimsy cardboard box. There was literally one piece of packing paper between the two boxes in some sort of attempt to cushion the smaller box. The word "Fragile" was not written anywhere on the outer box. This has to be hands down the most poorly packaged item I have ever ordered from Amazon. Also, after looking at the cross-section of the broken carboy, I feel confident that the $30 deals are from Paklab's "B" stock. while the mouth of the carboy looks very thick and heavy, it is misleading of the thickness for the rest of the carboy. Where it was broken in the center, the wall thickness was no more than 1/16".I contacted Amazon immediately when my order displayed that it was not refundable (no refund in this case would be truly unacceptable, and would have cost Amazon my business), and Amazon was actually very helpful. They notified me that Paklab listed this item as out of stock, so they refunded my order immediately and told me to order again when it was available and they would provide free one day shipping. As far as I can say about the customer service of Amazon, they are one of the best. It is now two days later and Paklab has this item listed at $55. Something seems fishy to me. This only adds towards my suspicion that the $30 deal is from "B" stock. I'm not sure who was responsible for packing this item, but someone should lose their job over how poorly it was done. I'm upset with Paklab that this deal was such a tease. To those of you who had a good item arrive in good condition, I'm glad you didn't have to experience this. To those looking to purchase this item, be aware of what might happen, and if your item arrives defective or broken, contact Amazon's customer service. If Amazon is aware of its poor suppliers, it's less likely those suppliers will be promoted. I don't think I'll waste my time ordering another one of these (or anything from Paklab for that matter) unless Paklab offers me one for much less than $30.
