Good value pen with very fine nib
I have several Jinhao pens, and this one is a welcome addition to my collection. The matte black finish and straight lines make it very stylish and the black nib adds to the effect. It is a thinner barrel than I usually use and may not be ideal for long writing sessions, but it is comfortable enough. It's a very good "carry pen" that I look forward to using for a long time.

Slim, sleek, stealthy, smooth
I love the metal minimalist design with the matte black finish. Even the super smooth nib is black. I inked it up with the converter and it wrote with the first stroke. Couldn’t have been easier or faster to get the 35 running. The fine nib is very smooth with a small amount of feedback. This nib just glides across the paper. The cap posts securely while maintaining a comfortable balance. I am able to write at length in comfort. There is one imperfection — the cap snaps on with a nice click but it can spin once posted. You have to intend to make it do so, and does not spin while writing posted, so it’s not an issue for me.

Bang for buck! and a great starter pen.
A lot of people already know about Jinhao fountain pens. This is a great first fountain pen if you're fountain pen curious. :^) The nibs are really well built -- and they outperform a lot of much more expensive pens. This is my 3rd or 4th Jinhao.... You can't go wrong here.

Doesn't write. At all. [EDITED AND CHANGED]
Just inked up my new pen. It won't write. Not a bit. Not at all. Ink is fine, cartridge is filled. But it won't write. I twisted the filling mechanism just to push a little ink out. That worked and it then wrote for a few seconds before drying up completely. Any ideas?Update. It suddenly started writing perfectly, for no clear reason, and has performed excellently since then.

Nice pen, terrible quality and even worse durability
The pen is very nice and smooth in terms of feel. However, the cartridges wouldn't stay because of the mechanism inside the pen. Also, the grip broke (part of the pen where you place your fingers to write) while twisting the cap on. This brand is among my favorite pen brands, in fact, at the price of the wide selection of pens they offer, they are the best. Unfortunately, this pen no good.

Flawed but Salvageable
It looks fine. The tip is on the scratchy side, but absolutely ok for the price. It has two structural issues worth considering:1. The cap doesn't post by gripping the barrel. Instead, there's a small plastic cup inside the cap which you insert the butt of the pen into. It doesn't always line up on the first go, which can be a bit annoying.2. The collar - the part that you hold onto when writing - is a separate piece of metal from the barrel. That means that if quality control wasn't great (as is often the case), that piece may not be firmly attached, and it can slip loose, which is a real problem. Thankfully, this can be fixed with careful application of glue, so if you're willing to get a little crafty, you can get a serviceable pen out of the deal.

Satisfied - So Far
This review is for one matte black Jinhao 35 fountain pen with a black 0.5mm (fine) nib (ASIN B08LZ7JB5W). The pen arrived on time over night (Amazon Prime). It was exactly as shown in the ad. The pen is well built and well balanced, even when posted. After flushing the pen out with some soapy water (there was some residual blue ink in the pen as shipped), I filled the pen with Pilot/Namiki blue ink. The pen promply wrote with a consistant fine line, no start-up or skipping problems were encountered. The tines on the nib under magnification looked properly aligned, but writing was just a little toothy. A few passes of the nib over a sheet of 12,000 grit micro-mesh smoothed it right out. But to be honest, the pen was perfectly useable without the additional work on the nib and more than likely the nib would write smoother with use. I have only had the pen for less than a day, so there's no telling how it will hold up over time. If you are in a hurry and don't have any micro-mesh, try smoothing the nib with a brown paper sack. I'm a little worried about the matte black finish. But so far, I can say all expectations were met. It is a decent pen for the money. The only thing I would prefer is a threaded cap.

Love it
Works beautifully and is very reasonably priced. Tip is very fine and writes smoothly. The pen feels wonderful in the hand. I couldn’tbe happier. I may also buy the same pen with the medium tip.
