"Gandhi: Porbandar to Partition", written by my sir, Dr. Dilip Datta, is a different type of book, where all the important aspects of Gandhi's life has been portrayed nicely. The way writer has explained is very reader friendly and the book will surely enrich anyone's knowledge about Gandhi as a human being, a common man. I, personally, am really very glad to have a book like this where the introspection of Gandhi has been described pleasingly. The book also identifies the turning points in Gandhi's life, specially the flame burning within him through which Gandhi had made a mark in the history of India's freedom movement and finally he realized that the day of independence was not of victory, but of mourning, disillusionment and despair and he remarked with deep bitterness : "It is I who am to be blamed. There has been some flaw somewhere in my ahimsa."I will definitely recommend all to have the book and enjoy author's analysis on Gandhi's life.

A candid and unbiased depiction.
Very well researched and unbiased view of the Mahatma. Covers not just his personal or political journey but other hitherto less known aspects of the human side which many writers may have been unwilling to touch upon so candidly. Instead of blind hero-worship or lop-sided criticism, the writer helps one to realise why, despite his flaws and failures, Gandhi is the father of the nation in the true sense.
