I also think it’s important to note that this chemical, when found in foods, mostly fried potatoes, happens during the cooking process. It occurs when the potato is heated to a high temperature quickly, the crispier the fry, the more acrylamide. Anyone going to stop eating fries now? There is absolutely no research that shows the emulsifier has the same toxic effects as the chemical alone. I will say in rats at moderate levels could be responsible for reproductive issues but the truth is eating what is considered a “moderate” amount of any single chemical is potentially toxic.Interestingly this product was not created by a cosmetic company, it was a group of medical scientists. The intention was to create a gel that would make taking skin biopsies (for cancer), less invasive. The subjects noted how young their skin looked. This was due to it taking off the layer of dead skin that makes our faces look dull, especially for people like me, who do not shed that skin properly. It does not, (as 1 reviewer theorized) “make your skin swell”. It’s not a trick, we all would look better without dead skin on our face. And of course stopping the use of the product will very quickly make you dull again because we are constantly growing and shedding dead skin.Because of my skin condition, that I have passed to my daughter, I have been praying for a product like this. Something different. Where I can look at the ingridents and not see the same thing I saw on the previous product that failed me. This company is right in saying we need to stop looking at skin care as a cosmetic issue and find solutions in the medical field and make them available to the mas public. Cleans and leaves skin feeling incredibly soft. It's also not harsh like other products, namely ones with salicylic acid and other acids. It seems to just dissolve, break-apart, and rinse away the layers of dead skin while leaving the healthy skin untouched. It's really incredible. I would buy them in bulk if I could haha. I'd love to see this company make some other products as well. It is also terrific to use when I have dryness or flaking from AHA treatments or vitamin A (tretinoin, retinol). This can be used as a wash or a weekly mask left on the skin for 10 minutes. The microbeads give a safe manual exfoliation although it’s best to use this product when it can be showered off to help rinse the skin.
