Wondering if I can get a generic 36" lid.** A: No, I could not find a top. I bought a generic 36" lid, but it is too wide (side-to-side) and too narrow front to back. This 36'' griddle does ok. It gets super hot, super fast. My infrared thermometer has shown me readings over 800 degrees F. That is insane! Even on the lowest gas level, the griddle stays at 400-450 degrees. The front 4 inches in depth and rear 4 inches of depth, toward the middle does not receive any heat from the gas burners. Approximately 8''x36'' of non-usable cooking surface. It has plenty of room to keep your food warm. lol. The griddle top itself is a tad ruff, but is plenty thick enough to adequately hold heat in the griddle top. The build quality of the actual flat top is one of the best I have ever used. The rest of the quality is adequate and slightly above the MSRP price point for the quality I was expecting, but sure isn't top notch stuff.
