CURLSMITH Hair Makeup - Temporary Hair Color for Curls, Curl Styling Gel with Color, For All Curl Types, Vegan & Cruelty Free (3 oz)

I needed to make my hair a flamboyant reddish color because I was playing a character in a local community theater production. My Hair Stylist recommended that I try this product since I only needed a temporary red color. My hair is normally a medium brown color (well actually it’s gray but I’ve been dying my hair brown for 20+ years). I followed the directions on the tube I washed my hair and then I worked the product into my hair by squeezing it into my wet hair and raking my finger fingers through my hair. Honestly, it was like rubbing thick butter all over my hair. I kept thinking that it was going to be a disaster and that I probably would just wash it right out. My hands turned bright orange too. While it was still in the early stages of drying, it felt very sticky, but I went ahead and put some Velcro curlers in my hair and let it dry thoroughly. When I removed the curlers about an hour later, I was astonished. The color was fantastic! And my hair was not sticky at all. In fact it had a ton of body. Everyone agreed that it looked really great and actually looked very , very natural. The first photo was taken on the day that I put the color in. I did not wash my hair for several days and the second photo is how good it still looked on day four. I did put a towel over my pillowcase and some did rub off onto the towel night, but honestly not very much. Today I finally and regretfully washed my hair. I thought for sure it would leave a reddish tinge behind , but nope! There is no trace of this product in my hair anymore The third photo shows me back to having plain old boring brown hair again. Honestly, I loved having red hair for several days, and I told my hairstylist that I am ready to commit to permanently dying my hair a nice red color because I enjoyed it so much.

Wow! I didn't have high expectations for this but I was so pleasantly surprised! I'm naturally dark blonde but have lighter blonde balayage (my roots are darker than my ends) and have been debating on trying red. My stylist said it was a big commitment if I didn't end up liking it and would take time to get back to light blonde if I didn't so I tried this to get an idea if I would like copper on my hair. I have straight hair so I can't speak to how it looks on curly hair but it looks great on mine! I feel like I could have used more to get a true copper but I was looking for more strawberry blonde/light copper and was able to get just that without any pink/ actual red red. It is messy, as others have noted. I used gloves and that helped with the mess containment. As for washing it out, I haven't gotten to that yet, but I would NOT sleep with this in my hair. It transfers with any moisture. Don't get trapped in the rain or a very hot day because you'll know real quick! Great for low commitment hair girlies like myself! I did do a test strip before putting it all over and it washed out nicely on the test strip, getting back to light blonde without issues but I have yet to wash it out of my whole head. Update: It washed out perfectly without any residual brassiness!

So fun! Really great way to play with another hair color and test the waters with no damage. Super consistent formula and easy to apply, although try to get someone else to help you. Was not irritating to my skin even as it ‘shed’ and flaked through the day. I wore this for over 12 hours… walking in a museum and a house party in the evening. It lasted the whole time and washed out in the shower with ease!! If anyone is wondering, I used about 90% of the bottle in 1 application, but definitely could’ve finished it since my roots were showing. Giving it 4 stars since the texture really got to me. This product is best for curlier hair. I have really fine, straight hair. My hair felt so crunchy all day and coarse from the product. It would tangle up so easily, yet it was terrible to brush through. For this reason the product dusted all over my sweater, purse, hairbrush… but I wasn’t upset about that. It’s also not easy to style your hair once the product is in. I was able to do some small curls which made the texture more forgiving and gave my hair a softer look. I’ve added in photos of what my hair looked like! The blonde photo is from the day after using this product, it washes out so easy almost like you never used it.

The styling gel part of the product is great. It really does hold without a curl cream. I was amazed at that. The Rose Gold and the Ruby took in my hair (bleached blonde). The Turquoise turned my hair gray and I looked like an old woman with it. It also was more drying than the other 2. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that the others are super thick and creamy and the turquoise was really runny. Whatever it was it was I didn't care for that. This has a lot of glitter flakes in it and they go EVERYWHERE. I had glitter everywhere on clothes for days. Even after it dried I had red transfer onto my sweater. I like the hold aspect. The Rose Gold and Ruby are good for temporary color (like today I put rose gold in again for a change from my normal blonde). The Turquoise though is not doing it for me. I don't apply to dry hair after because it's already drying enough I didn't want to add more to it and dry it out more.

Real review- I don’t write many reviews but I feel like this one deserves it. It Worked great for my Reba costume. Left on for a good 12 hours and washed out great. It didn’t leave any color on my clothes either. A little messy to apply but I expected that. Put on damp hair and I blow dried it as I put it on. Texture was kind of iffy but I didn’t expect it to be soft. I only used maybe half the bottle and I have long hair. Definitely worth the money as I ordered about 4 other types of temporary color and all the others were thick and greasy and was more of a Halloween look.

do not buy this. This is a horrible product. I use CurlSmith products all the time and they’re good products however… This one’s smell is ridiculous and it feels like cement with extra sand. It is impossible to get on your hair evenly and it burned my scalp. I had it on for less than five minutes and my hair felt like it had been bleached three times. I’ve had to put coconut oil on my hair for days. It’s finally back to normal ISH.

I'm so glad I went with this option to create my Ms. Frizzle look for Halloween. I overdid the gel since I didn't practice before the day, but I got a ton of compliments on it anyway. It holds extremely well and the color really popped on my salt and pepper curls. The effectiveness of the product is exactly as described and the size is a good value for the money. My hair is massively thick and I was able to get most of it out on the first wash. They warn of the washability of clothing, but I had no issues with it coming out of the old shirt I used to protect the costume. I intend to just try it for the fun of it in place of my normal styling soon!

I absolutely love this temporary hair dye. I honestly wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. It was indeed brighter the first day of application but by the second day toned down to a more muted vibrancy which I loved. The application process is very easy as well, I thought it would be difficult applying this to locks but it definitely wasn't. I deep shampooed, towel dried my hair, added a leave in moisturizer then applied the color straight after. It did take most of the day for my hair to air dry BUT I noticed that instead of my hair feeling dry due to the dye like I thought it would be it ironically seemed to lock in the moisture which left my hair feeling soft which I absolutely loved. I am now very eager to try all of the other colors. It's also great that it does not stain ANYTHING, I got some on my face and neck (I'm not a professional -no judgement lol) as well as my towel and a wet paper towel wiped it right off even after it was dried on.

Gutes Produkt, leicht aufzubringen und hält tatsächlich bis zur nächsten Wäsche ohne Kleidung oder Haut zu „beschmieren“. Das Auftragen ist etwas „schmierig“ 😂 und man sollte definitiv auf seine Kleidung aufpassen 😂 ist eine kleine Sauerei gewesen - aber es hat sich sowas von gelohnt !

Wasn’t expecting the result, better than advertised

Ho i capelli ricci 3b/3c fini. Ho applicato, dopo essermi lavata capelli, prima la crema weightless air dry sempre curlsmith e, poi, l’hair make up che è anche un gel per lo styling. I capelli erano super definiti e ci ho messo anche di meno ad asciugarli. L’unica pecca è che un po’ di glitter/ shimmer sulle mani te lo lascia se ti tocchi spesso i capelli, ma sul cuscino non ha lasciato tracce! Il giorno dopo ho fatto il refresh aggiungendo un po’ di prodotto ed erano perfetti. Consiglio di non mettere tantissimo colore quando sono bagnati, ma di ritoccarlo ed intensificarlo da asciutti. Nel complesso sono molto soddisfatta e voglio provare tutti gli altri colori! 😍

Très bonne coloration temporaire qui donne un magnifique reflet rouge sur cheveux crépus. Facile à appliquer, ne tâche pas, et la couleur tient bien sans abîmer la fibre capillaire. Idéal pour un effet fun sans risque.
