Needing a hyper-cardioid mic for a home studio setting, I took a chance on the VM20. The A/B test against my camera's built-in mic was a night-and-day difference. Even at 6 feet away, the isolation and clarity are outstanding. Interviews are about to get a whole lot better. Factory settings deliver rich, clear audio. While the mic can be a tad sensitive at times (picking up distant noises), adjusting the gain and noise reduction options helps achieve great results every time. The 150Hz filter setting can sound unnatural, so I stick to the 75Hz option for managing unwanted noise in post-production. The rotary gain knob is a nice touch, and the battery life seems impressive.
