Humorous and clever take on death
As a newcomer to the author I was initially sceptical about recommendations to read this book. This feeling persisted for perhaps twenty to thirty pages before being swept away by the astute observations of human behaviour, humour and at times profound commentaries on issues such as things always being better in the past.Pratchett also peppers his narrative with less metaphysical but equally humorous concerns such as the over use of salt as seasoning, the abandonment of shopping trolleys, invasive muzak and the spread of retail mall culture. A clever rant at cultural kitsch is also made by the ingenious use of snow globes in the plot. The use of footnotes and style is redolent of Adams in The Hitchhiker’s Guide.Despite the morbid nature of the narrative this is a surprisingly uplifting read which lessens the fear of death and provides the reader with great entertainment whilst ‘putting off the inevitable. ’This is very much a call to enjoy and celebrate life poignantly written by an author who had to live for along time with a heightened awareness of his own mortality.

Totally smitten
My first ever TP audiobook or book (I am 55). I was delighted and enthralled. The witty writing and brilliant acting by Tony Robinson kept me company through nights of grief following the early death of my husband. You might be thinking listening to a book about Death would be unhelpful in such circumstances - but quite the reverse!I have already bought more audiobooks by TP.

One of Pratchett's best!
My favourite book in pristine condition ready to be gifted on so it can hopefully be as loved as my copy. Death is on a forced leave from work but takes his diligence with him as he mixes with humans. This has unforseen side effects elsewhere. No matter how many times I retread it my favourite jokes still make me laugh and I come across a new or forgotten detail. It remains a go to when I'm down because its also a surprisingly gentle exploration of what it is to be alive and human.

Great Story
A great story unfortunately the yellow book hardback cover edition wear easily during reading , naturally rubbing of everyday items ie from placing on tables.I recommend buying other editions if you like your copy to seem mint after reading .

A beautiful decorative version of a brilliant book.
Absolutely beautiful. This is one of my favourite Discworld books and I decided it would be the perfect present for a friend who is also a fan. shipping was fast and convenient as per usual for amazon prime. The quality is lovely, vibrant colours and some lovely touches of silver detailing. The font size is a little larger than the older style paperback which is always handy. A lovely version of the book and a nice decorative piece. The only difficulty is making sure I don't keep it for myself.
