SwimWaysBaby Spring Float Sun Canopy

It's value will depend on the kid
I purchased the SwimWays Baby Spring Float Sun Canopy for my then 16 month old daughter to use at the pool over the course of the summer. My wife and I were tired of holding her in the adult pool and hunching over her in the wading pool, so this float seemed to be an ideal option. We used it during the summer and I'm following up with my review.Overall, the product is well constructed, looks good, and the canopy fit well. I did have some issues getting the float fully inflated while setting the valves back into position, but, in the scheme of things, not a big deal. It is easy to use, with the seat being made of mesh "shorts" and we had no difficulty in putting our child into the float, despite her kicking legs. There's also plenty of room for the child to splash or play with other toys. For our purposes, however, it was not the solution we had hoped. Our daughter is particularly active/mobile, tall for her age (95%), and does not like to be constrained. We thought that the freedom to move around the big pool would be enticing, but in the end, she spent a lot of time trying to escape the float once Mommy and Daddy were done giving out power boat rides (pushing her around in the float at high speeds, which she loves). She could easily put her face in the water and tilt pretty far forward, enough we had some concern that she might be able to be positioned belly down and not bounce back into the upright position. In the end, she didn't like being in the float and her antics and body length made it hard to keep to use the float for more than five to ten minutes per pool visit.I think the product does have value for children who may be content with sitting in the water and floating around. But for child that may be more active, this may not get as much use as you hope.

You just may need this
I've seen these before and just thought that it was something I would never need and it was a waste of money. Until we got around some strangers who had one at the pool and offered for us to try theirs, same brand just a different color.Five minutes later I bought one, our kid loved it that much. I immediately noticed that he was doing a lot more leg movement while in the cradle seat and found that to be pretty cool. It was almost like he figured out how to use his legs to turn himself around within 20 minutes of being in it. This is a device that will give the parent some time away from having to hold their kid all day in the pool, the mesh ring gives the ability to throw toys on so your kid can play with those to pass time and we had absolutely no fear of him tipping over (calm waters). I won't be going back to the pool without this. Oh and "those strangers" mentioned their daughter was 2 before she grew out of it! I thought it would only last a season but here's to hoping for next year!

Great for my younger child!
I know this item is for infants older than my daughter, but we decided to try it out anyway and were extremely cautious. My daughter is 7 months old and adores being in the water. However, she kicks and splashes from excitement it is hard to keep a good grip on her. A friend suggested this product and I am so glad they did! She loved it. I don't mean she kind of had fun, she adored this thing. As soon as we got her all set up and in the pool, we had people stationed all around her in case something went wrong or if she seemed too small for it to work. Thankfully, it fit her perfectly. The inner ring fit well around her tummy, but left enough space for her lean forward a bit to look around, but not far enough to put her face near the water. The part her bottom went into was also small enough to hold her well and did not allow wiggle room for her to slide to either leg hole.To functionality, this item is brilliant. The first inner ring hold the infant in place. It keeps their face and torso up out of the water. Then, the mesh area allows some water to come through, but not enough to hurt anything. Just enough to let them smack and play. Next, there is the outer ring which provides that extra bit of balance and support. Finally, the shade on top is an added bonus.

Great Float for an 8-month-old
I was nervous to purchase a floaty for our 8 month old, but this one seemed like the best one available. Once we bought this for the water & an infant PFD/life-jacket for the boat, we were ready to go to the lake! Here are a couple highlights:- The two rings make it more stable, which helped me feel less stressed about taking a baby in a lake. The float held her up well, and I was able to easily hold her around the waist for extra precaution. I'd recommend staying by your baby's side at all times. Although this is stable, it still requires parent supervision.- This is great for playtime in the water. She was free to splash, kick, and play with bath toys.- Our daughter seemed comfortable in the seat, but it's not adjustable, so I don't expect it would work for everyone.- The canopy does help with shade, but I'd still recommend a sunhat & sunscreen.

Good product, and held our 9 month baby who ...
Good product, and held our 9 month baby who weighs about 25 lbs very well. Baby did not sit too low in the water and was comforable in the float. The only drawback to this float is that once you have taken it out of the carrying case, it is pretty much impossible to get it twisted small enough to fit back in the carrying case. This was not really an issue for us, since it is pretty flat anyway, and we were able to deflate it and pack it in the trunk without folding it. This would only be a problem if you were taking it on vacation and had to fit it in a suitcase.
