This is a high end Japanese made ruler. It would be nice to have been etched but I have no regrets. I also own several other Shinwa rulers. Love them all. **Q: Will this ruler work with a mat cutter?** A: I dont see why not! **Q: Why does this have a Prop 65 warning? What is the chemical invovled?** A: I think everything has a prop 65 warning if it is going to be sold in Calif. to keep the lawyers happy. **Q: Does this work for tearing paper?** A: I've never used it for that purpose, nor is it very sharp (which would be dangerous). Although it has a non-slip strip on the back, it does move slightly, which is my only complaint.
