comfortable all day long
I bought this as a backup for my NHS aid but use this more now. comes with a selection of ear buds find the right one and it just stays put without becoming uncomfortable. I sometimes forget i've got it in and a battery lats me about a week. also has noise cutout to prevent sudden load noises been amplified. The only drawback is it picks up keys jangling and pens clicking etc... very loudly. I would recommend and have even bought spares they're so good.

Useless
I have used many hearing aids priced from £15 up to £3000 with varying degrees of success. Some of the cheaper ones work for a short while before dying but these don't even try to pretend to work. Uncomfortable, tinny and, as often as not, silence. They just don't work; a complete waste of money.

Initial impressions are good value for money
I'm partially deaf in my leaf ear and already own a professionally fitted IIC hearing aid which is completely invisible. I bought this hearing "amplifier" partly to have as a spare at home and was also curious to see how this would compare to my current hearing aid given how much cheaper it is. For example, when I need to replace my hearing aid would this suffice instead? Firstly, there is quite a lot of whistling when inserting or removing this hearing amplifier as others have remarked on. This I can live with. Sometimes you can get this same noise when just moving your jaw, moving your hand close to your ear etc. but found this feedback can be reduced a lot by using one of the different sized ear domes provided. The best seal in the ear provides the least amount of feedback but also can give the feeling of your ear being blocked (imagine the sensation in your ears as you are going up in an aeroplane) You quickly get used to this though. As others have pointed out this amplifier does amplify everything so voices, crisp packets, puting away cutlery etc. I would say this is one of the biggest differences between this amplifier and my existing hearing aid in that the hearing aid has a chip and some clever software that will amplify voices but keep other background noises at a more comfortable/natural level. I think in particularly noise environments this is where the amplifier may be limited in its use as it would be too overpowering. I also found that I occasionally got some distortion on very loud noises although this can obviously be mitigated against by reducing the volume. I like the fact this has a volume control. OK, it is a bit fiddly to change but I quite like that so I am not going to be able to easily change it accidentally when I'm putting the device in my ear or removing it. It takes the same size 10 batteries as my existing hearing aid and you can usually get around a years supply for no more than £10 So, how does it compare to my existing hearing aid? Well, for outdoor activities and noisy environments I'll stick to my existing hearing aid as I think it is better suited for this. I also still like that it is completely invisible. However indoors I think I actually prefer this one. I have the volume turned up quite high, higher than it is set for my hearing aid, so I find I can hear slightly better. Note, the volume was already preset to highest level on my existing hearing aid and I cannot change it. I think it also worth mentioning that this "amplifier" is £50 (what I paid for it) where as my hearing aid was almost £1100 and this was just for a middle of the range model. Ok, my hearing aid is invisible (IIC) but the same size (CIC) would still have been the same price. I think my hearing aid is better overall but I don't think it is £1050 better but then I've always felt hearing aids are way too expensive so glad to see these types of devices coming onto the market that can "almost" do as good a job for a fraction of the price

Quick to order, next day delivery .
Helped me out of a fix when I was away from home. However the assistance these aids gave me was minimal , bearing in mind they just amplify sound. A lot of feedback when driving, not very comfortable. Teach me to be better organised when planning trips away.

For the money I can hear much better
Its too fiddly to alter the volume for changing situations, so its just up full all the time. It turns everything up not just speech so some noises are very loud. Its basic, but comfortable and invisible to wear and for teaching its invaluable. Chatting to friends with quiet voices too is massively improved. Considering how expensive most aids are this works well at a bargain price. Update - it has gone silent a couple of times in the last few days - changed battery and fiddled with volume control and it came back - so not 100% reliable. It doesn't warn me of low battery so when it runs out it is a bit confusing as then you just have an ear plug making you more deaf. A small detail but would improve it a lot.

Pretty much useless
Completely unreliable and a waste of money. Wouldn't even take a chance and ask for a replacement. Fiddly and with the least head movement it just goes dead. It would seem that the battery fits loosely in the specified holder because one has to keep tapping it to try to get it to resume functioning. Unfortunately I ordered a large number of A10 batteries which I no longer require and tried many of them, allowing the proper 1 minute after removing the seal before inserting, to see if it was the original batteries at fault, which has added to the expenditure. An unfortunate purchase.
