Awesome Razor
I bought this due to the reviews, the weight, the price and the fact that sharpening tools were not needed. The weight is like a true straight razor. I just let the razor do the work. No pressure needed. The Parker is a well made unit. No need to sharpen and strop like the old days. It had been years since I used a straight, so I thought I'd give this a try. Works great. Like a bike, right back to using both hands on both sides of the face. No cuts. Fits in my hands perfectly. Does not slip. No need to get the handle wet when using. CARE IS NEEDED when opening the blade lock to insert or remove the blade. If you do this wrong, you will pay. It is tricky. Just be patient and careful. I use my fingernails to open but using another item might be better (small screwdriver, butter knife). This is my only peeve with this unit. I tried to press back on the lock lever on the spine, when unlocked, to see if it would open easier while prying the two halves apart. It did not work. If the manufacturer improved this so it was easier to open, then it would be near perfect. Other than that, I really like this unit. I would say to teach yourself not to grab for the blade if dropped. Something we had to learn it the trades. Just practice with the razor and a small piece of tin foil ( make shift blade) over a towel in the sink-like you are loading the razor with a blade. The idea is teach yourself not to instinctively grab for them if dropped. Just saying. Also watch some of Lynn Abrams videos on using a straight razor if your are a newbie. I personally did not like the blades that came with the razor. Seemed dull to me, but, so did others. I have a very stiff and thick beard. Bought a sample pack of double edge blades and tried several. For me, the Feather Platinum and Astra Platinum blades and this unit kick butt.

Beautiful razor.
I am a DE razor user and I love it. I get great results from 99% of my shaves, but you know we always want more. So I started studying the technique of the straight razor. My barber uses on my mustache and lineup, but I always knew I would cut some major arteries if I tried to use one. But I searched, read many reviews and watched quite a few utube videos to learn more about it. So I narrowed the selection down and moved forward with this one. The razor is beautiful, but I didn’t purchase it just for looks. So I am a beginner, but the weight and feel felt just right. I had some other razors at local stores before purchasing and some I could feel the weight and others I could not. I may have this all wrong, but the ones that I could not feel the weight scared me. Again...I may have that concept all wrong. So the first time I used the SRX to trim my mustache...I cut myself. Can you believe that?! I had to watch a couple more videos to get that angle right so I am better now. But beginners...this thing goes where you send it. I am no professional, but I think its a good move for a beginner. I am about 4 uses in and I have not cut myself since then. For my current use...the SRX does the work. I will eventually get to a full shave with this razor, but I respect the understanding and technique required to do that task. I am not there yet, but I am confident this is the right razor to get me there.

Recommended for beginners and maybe old timers like myself - PARKER SRX Heavy Duty New for 2016
After receiving and using my Parker Razor I had been requested to write a short review about my 'experience'. This is my first straight razor and in my first two days ... of full face whittling of skinnage ... I must say its a great value, feel in hand and ... it looks like a million bucks. As for the 'free 5 included half blades made by Shark' ... I can only ask WHY I DIDNT start earlier ... well because 'the internet much less AZN and storefronts .. hadn't existed 'back then'. I'm sure all the millennials use straight blade razors but if not .. "boys" ... man up for a sweet shave. If you are curious after watching Utube videos on ... beginners .. straight shaves... THIS IS a recommend and buy a hundred SHARK blades while AZN offers it - oh you might find a little blood here and there. You might see the possibility of cutting your major arteries with this ... weaponized shaver but ... follow a good training video and .. use two hands, take it easy .. Actually .. I'm still doing a first morning shave with my Dorco 4-5blade (buck club) razor which always leave stubble behind. So as I progress on getting the hands on.. the combo works well (maybe a first go with cartridge shave then do over with the Parker SRX. I've had two minor cuts .. because the blades are incredibly sharp - clean and the razor ... uncompromising. I have NOW been advised about .. these blades have 'protective coating' and DO NOT WIPE the blade clean ... didn't know that. Also as the blades are so inexpensive .. I've been tossing blades after a single, weenie morning shave. Apparently even while these are disposables, they may well last a few shaves before changing. BUY AS A very very sweet product. Buy the New for 2016 because ... it only gets better with experience. PARKER ... since the great year of 1979! Its not complicated. I wouldn't wish to put Gillettee out of business but they made the $$mistake of over pricing their cartridges. Man up: Buy PARKER for your first and it may be your last Stainless Steel Pro razor .. Made by loving hands in India of all places where .. they probably have just a few million beards using Parker daily. Blades by SHARK ... made in Turkey I believe .. insane imports. I love America and the time we live in. Thank you !

Another review? what else can I learn about this Parker?
I am a barber of 14 years and have handled a wonderful amount of straight razors. Time for this straight razor review WEIGHT: This will take a bit of time to get use-to. Unlike some of the other plastic/ metal Straight Razors (SS) that have a grace point for the amount of pressure you add; this one is all metal. The added weight can cause to add more pressure than you'd want or expect. This can be used as a plus by counter balancing the blade to adjust that grace point to create the great shave we are expecting from a nice quality piece. This can fatigue you greatly for dense facial hair since it requires more finessing. That being said, hitting the awkward angles of the face (depending on the structure you have) may require some practice. Old wisdom reigns here; let the tool do the work, counter balance and adjust the tang to grip your pinky STRUCTURE: the structure is great! the blade is not fully exposed and it does allow enough exposure to allow a good connection between the skin and blade. I feel like Parker got it spot on! when you load your blade in the shavette the two copper pins sit the blade wonderfully ***Pro Tip** (when you snap your full blade in half, load your blade with the bent portion face down towards the shavette, otherwise you may experience loading issues) ** when you close your shavette the spine will seal that blade in place! that grip will strengthen the blade and create a great angle to shave. SHARP THERE IS NO HEEL! most shavettes do not size the blade they load, into the final design. Parker is no different. the blade you load will not reach the heel which will allow you to only use the edge of the shavette. not a con but some real-estate Could have been used there. The SHANK: this is a little flat for the design itself. for how heavy the all metal adds to the design they would have made this portion a little more thicker to have a better grip and would have added a much more quality feel to the overall design TANG: love it! its a little long. its a little more safe, its a little extra its a little more legit! when you need to counter balance the tang can be a great tool that can help you reach better angles while keeping a better grip. PIVOT POINT: The pivot point is more snug than lose. the important take away is where you open it, is where it will stay. Personal opinion: at first getting use-to the weight caused some small razor burns and Knicks because I was use to lighter units but got use-to it by the 3rd shave. The low blade exposure doesn't allow me to sharpen edges like beards and hairlines because there's not enough exposure from the edge, to skin, to hair ratio. So personally I'd strictly use it to shave with minimal effort which is OK FOR ME! new guys can use this to create great muscle memory and good habits but id recommend something bit more forgiving in the grand scheme of things. pretty great unit

Great Quality Razor — Professional, Sharp, and Durable!
As a licensed cosmetologist who occasionally cleans up my boyfriend’s lineup and beard, I can say this product is excellent. It’s sharp, professional-grade, and made with heavy, durable material. Even after accidentally leaving it in a damp ziplock bag while traveling, it didn’t rust at all. The replacement blades are super convenient, one blade lasts through a few uses on one person before needing to be swapped out. The design makes it really easy to insert and remove the blades, and the secure backing ensures the razor stays firmly in place during use. Highly recommend this if you're looking for a quality straight razor for home.

There are better for way less
I bought Parker, Keropy, and Facon to compare. This was the best in terms of materials, fit, and finish. Parker was nice and hefty but was disappointed with fit and finish for the price. It had visible tooling marks, had inferior rivets, and i had to slightly bend the blade holder for a tight fit, although it did have the best chrome finish. Keropy and Parker used the same gauge steel. Facon used thinner steel, less chrome thickness, but better rivets and overall finish. I had to slightly bend the blade handle ever so slightly to make it absolutely straight. For $27 Parker was a disappointment, for $10 Facon was a reasonable deal, but at under $5 Keropy is the obvious choice.

Amazing
I've been debating on going to these types of straight razors for quite some time since safety razors such as the Gillette don't last that long before the blades are worn out and are utterly expensive. I also was never satisfied with the shave that I got, while it was a close shave, it was never a precise shave being that I also have a beard. I purchased this product after reading a ton of reviews citing the only thing people were too concerned about were rust potential. As a result I purchased this and immediately started just wiping the blade clean on a paper towel or cloth sitting on my bathroom vanity while shaving rather than trying to rinse the hair. This is actually been super favorable considering now I don't have to worry about all that hair going down the drain and potentially causing future problems. The shave itself is incredibly comfortable and probably one of the most comfortable shaves I've had despite having incredibly sensitive skin. I'm able to do very precise shaves that are also very close, and after a few uses I was no longer cutting myself. The recommended Barbershop trick of trying to shave a balloon is great for getting the hang of it quickly. I changed the blade pretty frequently and still have not even scratched the surface of the blade pack I purchased which has 100 blades in it. I never thought that being so Frugal about shaving could end up giving me the best shave I've ever had in my life. Can't recommend this product enough. Note* taking the blade out to trade out the blades with a new one can seem a little daunting but the easiest thing that I have found to do is to use your thumbnail to pry the security latch off and then from behind it use your thumb to just lift up on the top piece to expose the blade without having it anywhere in your trajectory of your finger. Also works exceptionally well if you point the blade away from you rather than towards you. This of course is merely a suggestion and not professional advice by any means but it worked for me

Satisfactory Packaging, Excellent Feel and Quality, Feels Solid, Beautiful Shave
Honestly, I was skeptical about another product SR1 after reading negative reviews. I was mainly worried about damaged, opened, repackaged goods. I even cancelled that order. I even communicated with the parent company and they assured me that the seller is their trusted partner. So this time I ordered the SRX after receiving the prompt refund on the SR1. I watched a few Youtube Videos beforehand. Watch Geo Fatboy. Excellent review about the razor and the blades. The main points to consider were the cardboard packaging. I think the quality of the outer packaging should be improved because it is considered a premium product internationally. I did not have to tear it like in one of the videos. The blades are in original packaging, properly wrapped in plastic. I have no other criteria for evaluation. The blades are rated pretty highly on Youtube videos. I ordered them separately and that will be a separate review. I have Wahl razor with the sliding assembly which is quite nice. But this mechanism is something I will get used to. It is pretty smooth to open. I have not used it. But I have used a barber razor. I know what to expect. It feels solid, it feels metallic. And of course, I have fingerprints on a shiny razor. But it is a shiny razor for sure. It makes me a proud Indian. I don't know of any other international premium brand that's made in India. This is an addendum after actually using the product. The quality of blades is excellent for my liking. Unlike the other cheap option by the biggest international brand, locally made in India, the blades are smooth and sharp. But I will write a review about that in the Parker Blade review since I bought the 100 pack separately. But the razor itself is angled perfectly. For those who have still not got used to this type of razor, you need to use quality shaving cream and make nice creamy lather. You cannot be stingy in the shaving cream. The first shave with the original blades was smooth, clean, and nick-free. Zero nicks.

Perfect beginners or advances product
Product is so nice and the design is just perfect. I was a beginner at one stage and now I am a pro. But this one is just awesome. Comes with plenty of blades (each of them last very long). Handling with wet hands can be challenging sometimes but that could be any razors. Weight and material of the product make it best amongst the top other branded ones.
